Description of item for sale:

This hand carved solid chestnut pediment dates to the Louis XV period of the mid-1700's.  An old shipping label on the back indicates it passed through Paris at some time during its existence.  It is well carved with good detail finished to a warm medium/dark color.  Especially considering its age, it is in very good antique condition-straight and solid and with only minor nicks and scratches.  Note that there are a few old, inactive woodworm holes throughout the piece (see photos).  Dimensions:  46" long, 9" high and 1" thick.  (4464)
