More Silver Certificate Banknote Info: Silver Certificates are a type of representative money in the United States as part of its circulation of paper currency. They were produced in response to silver agitation by citizens who were angered by the Fourth Coinage Act, which had effectively placed the United States on a gold standard. The certificates were initially redeemable in the same face value of silver dollar coins, and later in raw silver bullion. The Federal Reserve gives the 1935 silver certificate banknote a lifespan of 5.9 years, which means by 1941 most of the 1935 banknotes were taken out of circulation or destroyed/replaced. The 1935 silver certificate is 82 years old! Great Collectors/Investment Items!
