1999 KING MODEL 2055T "SILVER FLAIR" - SILVER PLATED MEDIUM LARGE PLUS BORE, SEMI-PROFESSIONAL Bb TRUMPET WITH A CUSTOM BRUSHED/ POLISHED FINISH IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

I have been playing horns for 60 years...collecting and restoring vintage trumpets and cornets, and building custom horns for 49.  Over the decades I amassed a vast trumpet/ cornet collection.  During the past few years I have thinned out the herd and continue to do so.  All my horns are gig ready...cleaned, valves adjusted & aligned, and with new corks & felts when necessary.

PLEASE LOOK AT THE OTHER HORNS I HAVE LISTED

For your consideration, here is a wonderful example of an almost 18 year old Silver Flair that is in need of a new owner.  This trumpet is straight without dents, dings nor solder repairs, and has seen little play time in its history.  Therefore, the valves will require more "breaking in" which will allow the new owner the luxury of being able to seat them to their specific finger mechanics.  The current retail price of this model is $2,132., and it sells at deep discount for between $1,500. - $1,600.  Why even pay the discount price for a current model when you can have this custom finished SF in excellent condition for much less.

In 1964 the world was introduced to the first true "superhorn"...the 1055T Silver Flair.  Dizzy Gillespie owned 20 of them, never went on a gig with less than three in hand, and his famous upturned bell model is now on display in the Smithsonian.  Production lasted through 1979.  In 1980 the "2000 Flair" Series of pro trumpets were introduced with a new valve block and design that continued on with the introduction of the semi-pro model 2055T Silver Flair in the fall of 1983.  Much like its 1055 predecessor, the 2055 SF produces a HUGE, FAT tone with projection that will blow paint off the back wall of a large auditorium.  The 2055 makes a great jazz axe, but is equally at home in a marching band or orchestra as it blends well with other section horns.

This 2055T SF is a medium weight 2 lb. - 8.1 oz. trumpet that will accommodate virtually any music style and acoustic venue.  The trumpet has a clear and resonant tone that is easily controlled...its sound is BIG, bold, rather round, centered and focused.  It is a VERY free and open blowing horn with a rich, slightly warm tone that produces a sophisticated edge when pushed, and loves to be piloted in the stratosphere.  This horn has great intonation...the low register is not flat, and is very resonant.  The 5th harmonic is great, and so is the upper register intonation.  Slots are superb.  Responsive and flexible, the 2055T SF makes a great jazz or marching horn, and with the right mouthpiece works well as an orchestral trumpet as it doesn't overpower the other section horns.

Mechanically, this trumpet is in superb condition with lightning fast valves that are bright and shiny, without staining nor pitting, and have factory spec compression.  All FIVE slides operate with silky smoothness including the 1st valve slide trigger.  Cosmetically, the trumpet is in excellent condition with the following minor blemishes:  1. While the horn was not played very much, the original owner had excessively acidic perspiration/ hand oils that began to pit the silver plating at the normal hand hold areas on the valve block.  I am referring to micro pitting that may or may not be visible in the photos depending on how big your computer screen is.  It appears on the upper balusters of 1st and 3rd valve casings, and the 1st casing/ bell knuckle.  The plating on the rest of the horn is perfect and totally intact.  I am providing a valve guard should you wish to protect the silver from further pitting;  2. The bell flare exhibits some minor mute ripples/ creases that were more than likely caused by mute edges during quick "huff and stuffs".  Again, this may be visible to you in photo #7.  Other than these blemishes, the rest of the trumpet is in flawless condition both inside and out.  I produced a modern brushed finish on the horn body, while the bell interior, slides, valve caps and key buttons remain highly polished.  I tend to be overly critical and as accurate as possible when describing my horns, so that no one receives any "surprises".  So, bid with confidence as I think you'll find my feedback speaks for itself.
