This is a lot of eight (8) figures from an expanded Richards Soldiers (RS) Set No. 264th Maryland Regiment, 1777. The lot includes two (2) NCOs and six (6) other ranks wearing hunting shirts. RS models are 54mm scale figures made in the style of old toy soldiers. RS figures represent regiments from the American Revolution, World War I, and specialty sets from ancient Egyptians to soldiers of the Franco-Prussian War. The models were the creation of Richard Herring, Scarsdale, New York. Mr. Herring produced Herrings and Rich Richards Soldiers from 1977 through the mid-1980s; production was very limited. In original scarlet letter Richards Soldiers, red box of issue .

The regiment was formed in Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Somerset counties in March 1776; it was commanded by Colonel Josias Hall. The regiment remained in service until January, 1783. It saw action at Brandywine, Germantown, Philadelphia-Monmouth, Camden, Gilford Court House, and Yorktown; it spent one month (June 1778) with General Washington at Valley Forge with 269 men fit for duty, as part of Stirling’s Division, 2nd Maryland Brigade.
