Also see: SS Geronimo: This 441 foot long WW II Liberty Ship was named in his honor. The vessel was delivered on October 18, 1942 by Permanente Metals Corp. in Richmond, CA. The proud new ship transported vital supplies to US and Allied Forces during WW II. She survived the war and her hull was recycled for scrap metal in 1960.
This cover honors Native-American Apache Chief Geronimo. His leadership is still of great pride in his nation, and he was a hero to his people. He died in 1909 as a prisoner of war at Fort Sill, OK. (see the web pages for the details of his outstanding life).
