Seller: artancientltd (9,292) 99.7%, Location: London, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 201684468857 A beautiful ancient Egyptian Faience shabti of Padikhonsu, dating to the 22nd/23rd Dynasty 945-720 BC. A very fine and well preserved example, with unusually vibrant glaze and contrast with the hieroglyphics. The figure stands mummiform, with tripartite wig, details added in black such as a pair of hoes, a seed basket over the shoulders, eyes, and a frontal column of hieroglyphics reading: wsir iT-nTr n imn [pA]-di-xnsw mAa-xrw ‘The Osiris, the Divine father of Amun, [Pa]-di-Khonsu’ [lit. “The gift of Khonsu” – the moon-god son of Amun] Height: 4 1/2 inches Length: Width: 1 5/8 inches. Condition: Very good, intact. Provenance: From the Collection of the late Julian Bird (inventory number 2033). Julian Bird was an avid collector of Egyptian Antiquities. His collection was formed from the 1970s onwards, mainly from the UK market. Mr. Bird's notes record that he purchased this piece from a German dealer and that it was "probably Theban – possibly from the Ramesseum".
