Brass Ball Andirons Hand Forged Billets SIGNED Victorian, Vtg. A Set of Antique 19th Century Solid HEAVY Brass Ball  Andirons w/Hand Forged Billets SIGNED with Initials This is a nice set of 19th Century Victorian andirons. The brass ball finials are at least 1/8" thick and weigh 1 lb 4 oz each. They have been machine polished but still have the original little nicks and rubs from age. The log holders (billets) are obviously hand forged. There are no markings on them, which is typical for hand forged. However... The maker marked either their initials or the initials of the owner/buyer on just one of the wing nuts: "C N T" (see photo). These have the standard baluster shape over the cabriole legs. The brass ball finial has an approximate diameter of 2 3/4" and as mentioned is at least 1/8" thick. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length is 20 1/2" long The log holder portion of the billet is 14" The height is 14 1/2" The width of the feet on the bottom is 8"  WEIGHT: Overall they weigh 3 lbs 7 ounces each To save you money on shipping costs, these will be disassembled for shipping (easy to reassemble with the wingnuts) You're going to LOVE these in your Fireplace!

  • Condition: Excellent antique condition! The log billet bars have a slight warp to them, but not very noticeable and this doesn't effect the use. There's a slight imperfection in the hand forged log stop - a small hole you can see - cosmetic only, and does not effect the structure. The brass has been machine polished, and still shows the rubs and dings of age characteristics. Please see all photos for more details and closeups.
