The hand is clearly gripping the ball and the fingers as well as the thumb are separated. The ring on second finger is well defined. The ruffles on the sleeve are clearly shown as is a bracelet on the wrist. The pattern of the surface plate is very detailed. The striking plate was a flower but has worn down somewhat with age/use. The knocker is 5 and 3/4 inches in length and is 2 and 3/8 inches wide. The door knocker weighs 1 pound and eight ounces. It was bought in Lisbon, Portugal in the early 1980s and has been in storage since then. Condition: This Antique hand cast iron door knocker is in beautiful condition for its age and use. The details on the hand, cuff and plate are quite clear and sharp. The iron is pitted on the top of the hand where it was picked up in order to hit the sound plate. The back plate and cuff show no deterioration. The bottom of the ball and the striking plate show wear due to the hand hitting the plate. PLEASE EXAMINE THE PHOTOGRAPHS TO CONFIRM CONDITION.
