Charming quintessential French design; stylish and useful!!   Measures approximately 13.5"t, 15"w from handle tip to handle tip with an 8.5" diameter basket orb like shape.

Acquired from the Louisville, Kentucky estate of "preservationist" Sally Willis Meigs, widow of World War II ACE Pilot & longtime Franklin Circuit Court Judge Henry Meigs II, and daughter of Kentucky’s 46th Governor Simeon S. Willis.  Her favorite place on the planet, other than Kentucky of course, was Paris France.  She went there on shopping trips yearly if not more often!!

Most likely used for washing vegetables and lettuce with a flip up top that allows you to easily "toss" your salad ingredients.  It's also perfect as an oyster basket or for seafood boils.  We also like to just look at it!! We suspect this wonderful example of French metal wirework is from the late 50's to early 60's though Sally and Henry were married in 1944, and to date the only couple to get married in the Kentucky Governor's Mansion.
