We are pleased to present an antique, circa 1910, porcelain demitasse cup & saucer from the private yacht Sachem, owned by Thurber, crossed with the burgee of the NYYC. It was manufactured by Schwarzburg in Germany. The cup measures 2.25" diameter and sits 2.125" tall; the saucer measures 4.75" diameter. Very good condition, some light wear to gilt trim; small spot of discoloration (lime scale?) to blue trim on saucer. Please see pics.
Frederick B. Thurber was a sailing champion; the The Frederick B. Thurber Invitational Trophy Race is named for him.
