heard of the Millennium Falcon?"     "Should I have?"     "It's the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. I've outrun Imperial starships. Not the local bulk cruisers, mind you, I'm talking about the big Corellian ships now. She's fast enough for you, old man."     ―Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi[18] The Millennium Falcon, originally designated YT 492727ZED and formerly known as the Stellar Envoy, was a Corellian YT-1300 light freighter most famously used by the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, during and following the Galactic Civil War. During the Falcon's time in the possession of the smuggler Lando Calrissian, it accumulated numerous modifications in the name of convenience and luxury, including painted exterior paneling and a large escape pod. However, during Han Solo's famous record-breaking Kessel Run, in which he piloted the freighter for the first time, many of these additions were destroyed or lost, leaving the ship battered by the time Solo won it from Calrissian shortly afterwards in a game of sabacc. Its aged appearance still belied numerous advanced modifications to boost the ship's speed, weapons, and shields, including a hyperdrive engine among the fastest in the entire galaxy, enabling it to outrun Imperial Star Destroyers. It also included sensor-proof smuggling compartments, which were used during the rescue of Princess Leia Organa in 0 BBY to evade Imperial stormtroopers. Afterwards, the Millennium Falcon saw further action when Solo chose to join the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Yavin, where it was able to sneak up and fire on Darth Vader's TIE Advanced, allowing Luke Skywalker to fire the proton torpedo that destroyed the Death Star. After Solo was captured on Bespin, Calrissian took command of the Falcon once more to search for him. In 4 ABY, following Solo's rescue, Calrissian flew the ship at the Battle of Endor, where it entered the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station and aided in its destruction from within. Over the next decades, the ship fell out of Solo's hands and was stolen by a succession of criminals and thieves, ending up in the ownership of the trader Unkar Plutt on Jakku, a remote world in the Western Reaches. The Falcon was eventually stolen by the Force-sensitive scavenger Rey, former First Order stormtrooper Finn, and Resistance droid BB-8 to escape the forces of the First Order in 34 ABY. Shortly thereafter, it was reunited with Solo and Chewbacca. Following Solo's death soon after, the Millennium Falcon became a Resistance vessel piloted by its new owner, Rey, throughout much of the First Order-Resistance War. In 35 ABY, the ship was once again captained by Calrissian during the Battle of Exegol, which saw a decisive victory for the Resistance and Jedi Order, before being returned to Rey, who had been newly dubbed a Skywalker. Apart from the shape of its chassis, the Falcon retained very little of its off-the-dock instrumentation. Because its successive owners either upgraded or downgraded every system according to their personal specifications, the freighter ended up becoming a unique ship.[11] These customizations, however, came at the price of reliability, and the Falcon was known to suffer frequent breakdowns in the heat of battle. After the circular military-grade sensor dish was lost during the Battle of Endor, the dish was replaced with the base rectangular model which was originally supplied with the ship. During the Battle of Crait the Falcon again lost its rectenna, and it was replaced with a military-grade rectenna similar to that of the one lost during the Battle of Endor. Additionally, the Falcon had a dejarik table featuring creatures found throughout the galaxy for the amusement of passengers and crew.[5] Engines     "She'll make point five past lightspeed."     ―Han Solo explains the Falcon's lightspeed capabilities[18] The Millennium Falcon's Girodyne SRB42 sublight engines were heavily modified through the addition of a SLAM overdrive that rerouted energy for acceleration bursts. As a result, the ship could fly at a maximum speed of 1,200 kilometer per hour in atmosphere and 3,000 G in space.[8] The stock hyperdrive of the YT-1300 series was replaced with a Isu-Sim SSP05.[1] Although the regular SSP05 was a Class 1 hyperdrive, the one that equipped the Falcon had been jury-rigged "Vandangante style" into a Class 0.5 drive[11]—twice as fast as most warships of the Galactic Empire.[10] According to Ralsius Paldora, the Millennium Falcon's hyperdrive failed 1.22 times more than the one on the YT-2400 light freighter.[34] In addition to its renowned hyperdrive, which supposedly made the Falcon the "fastest ship in the galaxy," the ship was equipped with a backup hyperdrive. It was much slower than the primary engine and often took several weeks or months to reach the nearest star system.[1] A component of the engines was the engine coupling which caused the Falcon to malfunction when misaligned.[45] Armament, hull, and shields     "Whoa, two ST2 launchers? What the hell were you and Solo doing with my ship that made you install that much firepower?"     ―Lando Calrissian, to Chewbacca[32] The Falcon's forward mandibles housed the forward deflector shields, concussion missile launchers, and beam lamps. The weaponry of the Millennium Falcon was normally suited for a much larger warship.[1] It included two CEC AG-2G quad laser cannons (one ventral and one dorsal) with enhanced laser actuators and gas feeds, which gave them maximum range and damage. Between the forward mandibles, there were two Arakyd ST2 concussion missile tubes, each of which carried a four-missile magazine.[11] Additionally, a BlasTech Ax-108 "Ground Buzzer" blaster cannon mounted near the ventral boarding ramp allowed its crew to defend the ship while on the ground.[1] Duralloy plates salvaged from an Imperial cruiser afforded the Falcon capital ship-class hull armor.[11] The ship had three deflector shield generators: the bow was protected from both lasers and concussion missiles by Torplex and Nordoxicon units, while a Kuat Drive Yards generator shielded the stern.[11] The Falcon's combination of sublight speed and maneuverability was comparable to most of the starfighters fielded by the Rebellion and Empire, while its shielding, hyperdrive, and heavy weapons were on par with those typically found on capital ships. These traits made it an ideal choice for General Lando Calrissian's attack run within the bowels of the Death Star during the Battle of Endor. The Falcon's only real combat weakness was its sheer size in comparison to starfighters. Although the ship had squeezed through many narrow spots in its history, it still lost the oversized sensor dish while trying to get through a particularly tight section of the Death Star's superstructure. Other systems and equipment The Falcon's main source of power was a Quadex power core.[1] Its main computer was made of three droid brains which identified themselves as the Millennium Collective.[46] The first droid brain was a transport droid known as V5-T, the second from a slicer droid called ED-4,[10] and the third from L3-37, which began as an R3-series astromech droid brain, but was overlaid with data architecture from an espionage droid, protocol droid processors, and custom state-of-the-art coding.[46][8] A pair of Gelieg 20m-cp Strobe/C-Beam Lamps, which flooded illumination outside the ship, were mounted on the tips of the front mandibles.[11] In case of emergency landing or crash on water, the Falcon was also equipped with flotation pontoons.[14] The Falcon also had a static charge dissipator which could dissipate static charge on the ship. But when the dissipator burned out the Falcon would need immediate repairs.[45] History Early years     "If you refuse, you die. He dies. The others on the ship, they all die. If you join with us, we all can live. The choice is simple."     "You tricked me."     "We couldn't have joined without you consenting to it. You made your decision a while ago. You just couldn't admit it. We are something different, now. Not just the Falcon. Not just L3. We are new."     ―The Falcon and L3 converse about integrating[47] The Millennium Falcon under Lando Calrissian's ownership The YT-1300f light freighter[2] designated unit YT 492727ZED was built at Orbital Assembly Facility 7,[48] a Corellian shipyard owned by the Corellian Engineering Corporation more than 90 years before the Battle of Starkiller Base.[2] As was intended, the ship began its career as an intermodal tug pushing container in orbital freight yards.[1] It once worked in the galaxy's busiest spacelanes.[8] Just after the Battle of Coruscant it was docking in the Senate Office Building.[49] Inconsistent records from the Bureau of Ships and Services indicate that the YT 492727ZED changed ownership more than once via unregistered transactions.[2] During the Clone Wars, the freighter was property of the Republic Group. The YT 492727ZED was registered by the Republic Group on the planet Ralltiir as the Stellar Envoy. At some point, either prior or during its ownership under the Republic Group, a military-grade rectenna was installed on the Stellar Envoy. Shortly after the end of the Clone Wars, the Stellar Envoy was involved in a collision with a bulk freighter and was seriously damaged. The wreckage was reconditioned by a salvager, who used several sections and modules from a scrapped YT-1300p freighter to repair the ship.[2] Some time later the human gambler named Lando Calrissian won the YT 492727ZED in a game of sabacc, and registered the freighter under the name Millennium Falcon.[2] Calrissian modified the freighter, inside and out,[11] converting it into his own speedy sports vessel as Calrissian saw how powerful its freight-pushing engines were. As such, Calrissian modified the two cargo mandibles at the front into an auxiliary ship launch, thus turning the plain freighter into a unique starship.[8] He also once explained the controls to Brea Tonnika of the Tonnika sisters.[50] Winning the Falcon from Lando Calrissian, smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca took ownership of the freighter. When Calrissian was injured during a raid on Kessel, the smuggler Han Solo and Wookiee Chewbacca were left in command of the ship. During the escape from Kessel, Calrissian uploaded L3 to the Falcon as the ship's navigational system, assisting the crew in making the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs. During the Kessel run the ship was majorly damaged by TIE fighters, with one blasting a hole in the front of the Falcon. After destroying the fighters Han slid the Falcon over an asteroid which destroyed two of the Falcon's landing gears. Calrissian later took the heavily damaged ship after landing on Savareen but ended up betting his ship in a "Corellian Spike" game of sabacc on Numidian Prime,[12] losing to the smuggler Han Solo.[51] Under the captaincy of Solo, the Falcon was further customized,[11] and he regularly claimed it was the fastest ship in the galaxy.[50] Galactic Civil War A fateful trip     "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought."     ―Leia Organa upon seeing the Millennium Falcon for the first time[18] The Millennium Falcon's destiny as a tool for a small-time smuggling operation was changed when it was chartered by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina for passage to Alderaan. When challenged by Kenobi about his ship's speed, Solo bragged that the Falcon was capable of attaining 0.5 past lightspeed, and that it had completed the infamous Kessel Run in fewer than twelve parsecs.[18] The Millennium Falcon blasts its way out of Mos Eisley The journey to Alderaan proved to be much more than a simple passenger flight. The Falcon was forced to blast its way out of Mos Eisley when a garrison of stormtroopers attacked the ship in an attempt to recover its cargo. It also narrowly avoided capture by a couple of Star Destroyers before making the jump to lightspeed.[18] Having also been on Tatooine, the Tonnika sisters had hoped to steal the Falcon to use as their own ship. When the Falcon began its escape, it created a big enough distraction that the siblings realized they had the chance to steal any other nearby ship,[50] while seeing the freighter escape the Empire's grasp convinced stormtrooper TD-7556 to desert the Imperial Army.[52] The Falcon emerged from hyperspace into the remains of Alderaan. After chasing a single TIE fighter stranded in what appeared to be empty space, the Falcon was captured by one of the first Death Star's tractor beams and secured aboard the massive space station. Thanks to quick thinking by those aboard the Falcon, the ship was made to appear as if the crew had escaped soon after taking off from Tatooine. It was searched by stormtroopers and it was reported that there were no passengers on board and the escape pods had been jettisoned. Their search had missed the crew, who were hidden in a series of secret smuggling holds. They then killed a scanning crew before they could be detected by the scanner.[18] In a matter of hours, the Millennium Falcon had once again escaped the Imperial Navy, this time with the rescued Princess Leia Organa on board. After a fleeing battle with Imperial fighters and a trip through hyperspace, the ship arrived at the secret Alliance base on Yavin 4. During the ship's stay on the battle station, the Empire had planted a homing device on board the Falcon, which it used to pursue Organa to this location. As the Rebels scrambled to organize a preemptive attack on the massive Death Star, Solo loaded his reward on board the Falcon and departed the moon. However, thanks to Chewbacca, its smuggler captain had a change of heart. Solo and his ship returned just in time to cover Skywalker in his last-ditch effort to destroy the station and secure the safety of the Rebel Alliance. The ship's surprise attack destroyed Darth Vader's two wingmen and sent Vader himself spinning off into space, allowing Skywalker to successfully complete his attack and destroy the Death Star.[18] Escape from Hoth     "Punch it!"     ―Han Solo to Chewbacca[4] Millennium Falcon blasts out of Echo Base Three years after the Battle of Yavin, the Falcon was undergoing repairs in the main hangar of the Rebel installation Echo Base as the Empire began its assault on Hoth. As the Alliance scrambled to escape the base, Solo and Chewbacca hurried to make the ship spaceworthy. Organa was cut off from her transport by a tunnel cave-in and was forced to make her escape from Hoth on board the Falcon accompanied by Solo, Chewbacca, and C-3PO. Solo used the ship's uncanny maneuverability and his piloting skills to elude an Imperial Star Destroyer chasing them, and two more emerging from hyperspace. Solo's maneuvers in the Falcon caused the two Star Destroyers approaching and the one pursuing to nearly collide with each other. The Falcon then attempted to make the jump into lightspeed, but was stopped short by an equipment malfunction.[4] Forced to take drastic measures to avoid capture, Solo made the decision to pilot the Falcon into a nearby asteroid field in an attempt to lose the Imperial pursuers. However, his repairs were cut short as he had unknowingly landed inside a space slug. Escaping just in time as the beast's huge mouth was closing, the Falcon was discovered by the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Avenger. They attempted to jump to lightspeed but once again, the hyperdrive was not fully repaired. Solo then had Chewbacca change course and fly directly at Avenger's bridge in an apparent suicidal attack run. The ship disappeared from sight and became undetectable to Avenger. It had not gone far: Solo had attached the Falcon to a blind spot on the conning tower of the Star Destroyer. Adhering to standard Imperial procedure, the Star Destroyers of Death Squadron ejected all scrap and garbage before entering hyperspace. Solo then signaled Chewbacca to release the ship's landing claws, allowing the Falcon to "float away with the rest of the garbage." Boba Fett, however, saw through this ruse, and waited behind in the Slave I, following the Falcon as it left the system.[4] The Falcon is pursued as it flees Cloud City. After its close encounter with the Empire, the Falcon journeyed to Bespin's Cloud City, where Solo's old acquaintance Calrissian held the position of Baron Administrator. The Empire had arrived first, however, due to Fett tailing the Falcon to Bespin. The crew of the Falcon were captured, tortured, and detained. Solo was encased in carbonite and given to the bounty hunter. The remaining members of the crew, joined by Calrissian, escaped to the Falcon. After rescuing Skywalker, who was dangling from a weather vane on the underside of Cloud City, the ship left the planet and attempted to jump to lightspeed. The crew were unaware that the recently repaired hyperdrive had been disabled by Vader's men, and only a last-minute patch by R2-D2 prevented the Falcon from falling into Imperial hands. Thanks to R2's efforts, the hyperdrive was activated and the Falcon managed to make the jump at the last second and escape.[4] Battle at Rendezvous Point Delta-Three     "But this isn't your ship. With Han gone, I'm commandeering it for the Rebel fleet, which means you don't get a say in where it goes."     ―Leia Organa, to Lando Calrissian[32] After the events on Cloud City, Organa, Skywalker, Calrissian, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 all were in the[32] main hold,[2] although Skywalker sat thinking about what had happened, as he learned that Vader was actually his father. Chewbacca and Calrissian were discussing Solo, with the latter questioning what they would have done if the Falcon had caught up with Slave I, noting that firing Fett's ship out of the sky would have killed Solo. Calrissian also spoke to Organa and told her that they missed their chance to catch Fett because she made them get Skywalker, who Organa introduced as the man who destroyed the Death Star. Calrissian promised that they would rescue Solo, as both he and Chewbacca understood Fett was taking their friend to Jabba. When Skywalker joined the conversation and asked where Solo was, Organa told him about what happened and promised that they would find him. After she asked what had happened to him, Skywalker only told her that Kenobi had not answered his call.[32] The Falcon makes an attack run against the light cruiser Organa had R2-D2 give Chewbacca coordinates for the Rebel fleet, and, with Solo gone and Calrissian not being the ship's owner, she commandeered the Falcon for the Alliance. However, when they arrived at Rendezvous Point Delta-Three, the gathered Alliance ships were under attack from the Empire. Upon seeing the Falcon, the Imperial commander, Ellian Zahra, ordered a TIE fighter squadron and all non-essential turbolaser batteries to target the freighter. Aboard the ship, Organa and Skywalker, despite his missing hand, moved to the gunning stations, while Chewbacca and Calrissian served as the pilots. Skywalker, however, began to be distracted by thinking about Kenobi and Vader, but he then used the Force on the TIEs, ripping the controls from the pilots' hands, allowing them to deviate from their course and collide with each other; giving Organa a chance to blast them. Calrissian and Chewbacca then made their attack run on an Arquitens-class command cruiser and, using the Falcon's missiles, destroyed the ship's gun emplacements, making an opening for the Rebels to escape to backup Rendezvous Point Gamma-Nine.[32] After the battle, Zahra explained to Vader that the Falcon had disrupted their attack. She told the Dark Lord of the Sith that they attempted to destroy the vessel, but Vader informed her that the Falcon was off-limits. He permitted her to kill Organa if she was able to, as he had no use for her, but Vader explained to her that there was someone else who was often aboard the Falcon. He warned Zahra that, if this individual, who was secretly his son Skywalker, was killed, there would be significant consequences.[32] Rescuing Han During the following months, the Falcon served as home base to Organa, Skywalker, and Calrissian as they tracked Fett in an attempt to save Solo.[source?] After they successfully rescued Han, the Falcon rendezvoused with the Alliance Fleet and prepared to assault the newest Death Star.[33] Battle of Endor     "Look, I want you to take her. I mean it, take her! You need all the help you can get; she's the fastest ship in the fleet!"     ―Han Solo, to Lando Calrissian[33] The Falcon leads the starfighter attack during the Battle of Endor. During the Battle of Endor, Calrissian and Sullustan copilot Nien Nunb flew the Falcon as Gold Leader. After the planetary shield protecting the second Death Star was destroyed, the Falcon and several Alliance fighters entered the battle station through a conduit port and headed towards the reactor core. Space was limited in the conduit tunnels leading to the core, and the relatively large Falcon lost its sensor dish when the ship clipped a conduit in the tunnel. Calrissian was able to pilot the craft into the energy core housing the main reactor, fired upon the reactor, and headed for the exhaust port. The Falcon barely outran the massive explosion that destroyed the powerful battle station. Soon afterwards, the Imperial fleet retreated, and the galaxy celebrated the death of Emperor Palpatine.[33] New Republic Several months later, Solo and Chewbacca traveled through space on the Millennium Falcon. After receiving intelligence from Imra that the Empire had reduced their presence on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk due to the advances of the New Republic, Solo and Chewie traveled to Warrin Station to rally smugglers and Wookiee exiles for a campaign to liberate Kashyyyk.[40] Around this time, Han Solo replaced the Falcon's sensor dish with a rectangular civilian model.[35] However, this information turned out to be a trap set by the Empire. Chewie was captured, but Solo managed to escape on the Falcon. A year later, Solo corresponded with his wife Organa via hologram on the edge of Wild Space. During the conversation, the Falcon came under attack, and communication was lost with Organa. In response, Organa dispatched the New Republic starfighter pilot Norra Wexley to rescue her husband. Norra was joined by her son, Temmin Wexley, the B1-series battle droid Mister Bones, the former Imperial Sinjir Rath Velus, the Zabrak bounty hunter Jas Emari, and the New Republic Special Forces soldier Jom Barell.[35] The Millennium Falcon after the Battle of Endor Norra and her team found Solo and the Falcon on the planet Irudiru. After interrogating the Siniteen prison builder Golas Aram, Solo and his allies traveled on the Falcon and Emari's ship Halo to the Kashyyyk system. They bluffed their way through the Imperial blockade by posing as a repair crew working at Ashmead's Lock, an automated prison on the far side of Kashyyyk. There, they managed to free Chewbacca and a hundred other prisoners including Norra's husband Brentin Lore Wexley. Norra, Temmin, and the prisoners except Chewbacca then used the Falcon to travel back to the New Republic capital of Chandrila.[35] After learning that the Wookiee uprising was underway and that the Empire was orbitally bombarding Kashyyyk, Organa convinced the Alderaanian pilot Evaan Verlaine to fly her on the Millennium Falcon into the Kashyyyk system to aid her husband and Chewie. Later, she contacted the New Republic Captain Wedge Antilles and convinced him to send his Phantom Squadron there.[35] During the brief space skirmish, Organa and Verlaine flew circles around the Imperial Star Destroyers. After the Imperials capitulated, Organa landed the Falcon in the hangar of the Star Destroyer Dominion, which her husband had captured. Organa used the ship's laser cannons to blast several stormtroopers who were still putting up a fight. After reuniting with her husband, Organa and Solo took the Falcon to Kashyyyk. There, they parted company with Chewbacca before returning to Chandrila.[35] Prior to the Battle of Jakku, Temmin tried to convince Solo to lend him the Millennium Falcon so that he could travel to Jakku to rescue his mother Norra, who was hunting for the Imperial fugitive Grand Admiral Rae Sloane. After some haggling, Solo and Organa relented. Temmin and Velus attempted to depart on the Falcon but were prevented from leaving Chandrila by Senate Guards. While Temmin and Velus initially believed that Solo had double-crossed them, they later learnt that Senator Tolwar Wartol, a political opponent of Chancellor Mon Mothma, was the true culprit and had been spying on Solo and Organa's conversations. The Millennium Falcon later saw action during an operation on Nakadia to rescue the slicer Conder Kyl and Nim Tar's child.[53] First Order/Resistance War Reappearance     "The garbage will do!"     ―Rey, being forced to board the Falcon during the escape from Jakku[5] The Falcon fends off TIE Fighter fire during the Escape from Jakku At some point in the years following the Battle of Jakku,[54] Solo traveled to Maz Kanata's castle on Takodana to speak with Kanata. While the pair were conversing, a Nikto named Gannis Ducain offered to co-pilot for Solo after overhearing that Chewbacca was with his family and that Solo was short-handed for a job. After accepting Ducain's offer, he and Solo went to Christophsis, where Ducain stole the Falcon.[55] It was later stolen by Toursant Irving and Vanver Irving—also known as the Irving Boys—before finally ending up in the possession of junk boss Unkar Plutt on Jakku.[54] Around 30 ABY,[source?] he had it stored at Niima Outpost. The collector Karr Nuq Sin traveled to Jakku in his quest to learn about the Jedi Order, and he and his friend Maize Raynshi boarded the ship. Nuq Sin had a vision of Skywalker and Kenobi training aboard it after touching the remote.[56] In Plutt's possession, it would sit unused for years in Niima Outpost. Plutt paid for minimum maintenance for the ship with the intention of preparing it fully for flight only in the event that he would actually find a buyer.[54] Returned ownership     "You tell him Han Solo just stole back the Millennium Falcon for good."     ―Han Solo[5] Han Solo and Chewbacca once again take ownership of the Falcon. In 34 ABY, Rey, Finn, and BB-8 stole the vessel to escape an attack from the First Order on the outpost. While in spaceflight, the Falcon was picked up by Solo and Chewbacca's sensors, and they promptly locked down the Falcon's systems so they could recapture it using a freighter they were then using for their smuggling operations. Upon boarding their old vessel, Solo and Chewie went about inspecting their ship and found Rey and Finn hiding, who they assumed were the thieves that had stolen the Falcon. When Rey and Finn explained that they were going to take BB-8 to the Resistance as he had a map that would reveal Skywalker's location, Solo and Chewie agreed to help them. Solo was impressed with how much Rey knew about the ship itself, and how it worked.[5] On the way to Kanata's castle, when the Falcon began to malfunction, the mechanically savvy Rey, who was sitting in the cockpit to the right of Solo, made a modification to the ship by simply bypassing a faulty compressor. Later, the Falcon's crew arrived at Takodana and met Maz Kanata.[5] The Resistance     "Blow that piece of junk out of the sky!!"     ―Kylo Ren[36] The Millennium Falcon departing Takodana Following the attack on Kanata's castle, Starkiller Base prepared to fire on D'Qar. After learning of this, the Resistance devised a plan to sneak onto the surface and lower the planetary shields so their fighters could attack the superweapon's weak spot. Using the Falcon, Solo, Chewbacca, and Finn infiltrated the base, lowered the shields, and reunited with Rey, who had been captured on Takodana by the First Order.[5] While the Millennium Falcon lay dormant, it was briefly spotted by members of the Resistance's J-Squadron who were flying a stolen TIE silencer into the planet. At least two of its members speculated on whether it could be the Millennium Falcon that they'd heard so many stories about, but at the time they could not confirm whether it was.[57] After the confrontation with Kylo Ren following the death of his own father, Han Solo, Chewbacca rescued Finn and Rey aboard the Falcon, managing to escape the planet as it exploded. After learning of Skywalker's location, Rey, Artoo, and Chewbacca flew in the Falcon to Ahch-To, the remote planet where he had gone into self-exile.[5] Chewbacca and R2 remained with the Falcon while Rey attempted to persuade Skywalker to join the Resistance, though Luke slipped aboard the old freighter to reminisce, and was reminded of what was at stake when Artoo replayed the hologram Leia Organa recorded to recruit Obi-Wan Kenobi on her secret mission to Tatooine some thirty-four years earlier.[36] The Falcon led the First Order TIEs away from Resistance forces. Rey later departed the island, believing herself capable of restoring Ben Solo to the light side of the Force, and used one of the freighter's escape pods to reach the Supremacy while Chewbacca piloted the Falcon to Crait. After Snoke's death, Rey returned to the Falcon using Snoke's escape vessel, and the YT-1300 participated in the Battle of Crait. Piloted by Chewie with the dorsal turret manned by Rey, the Falcon led TIE fighters away from the Resistance V-4X-D ski speeders attempting to destroy the First Order's superlaser siege cannon. The freighter lost its radar dish during a chase through Crait's subterranean caverns. The Falcon was later used to evacuate surviving Resistance personnel from the Crait outpost while Luke Skywalker bought his allies time by confronting Kylo Ren.[36] After the battle, Rey spent a lot of time walking the corridors of the Falcon, thinking about how much history it had.[48] Stationed on Batuu     "Now, there are plenty of Corellian freighters in the galaxy. But only one has made the Kessel Run in twelve parsecs! Only one has destroyed the mighty Death Star! And only one was captained by the legendary Han Solo! That ship is the Millennium Falcon, and it belongs to me."     ―Hondo Ohnaka[58] The Falcon on Batuu. Some time after the battle, the Millennium Falcon landed on Batuu, where Hondo Ohnaka made a deal with Chewbacca and hired a temporary crew for the ship to take part in one of Ohnaka's endeavors.[59] Immediate repairs Rey, Finn, BB-8, and Chewbacca were transporting the Togruta smuggler Moebin Faltus on the Falcon when the ship started to experience problems. Rey believed that the engine coupling had a slight misalignment but upon further investigation she discovered the static charge dissipator had completely burned out. She decided that the Falcon would have to make an immediate pit stop on the planet Choss to look for a new dissipator with Faltus, while Finn and Chewie repaired the freighter.[45] End of the war At some point, the Falcon had its original[source?] circular Rectenna dish reinstalled after it lost its rectangular one at the Battle of Crait and a new lower Quad laser cannon. Following Palpatine's broadcast, Finn, Poe Dameron, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and Klaud arrived at the Sinta Glacier Colony to meet a Resistance informant, the Ovissian Boolio, ordering them to relay a message to Leia from spy within the First Order. Several squadrons of Special Forces TIE fighters and TIE whisper fighters later arrived at the colony, preparing to destroy the Falcon. As Finn prepared for the action and entered the gunner cockpit, Boolio jested that a worthy thanks for the information provided would be to win the war. Forced to travel into the depths of the colony by a wall of TIEs, the Falcon destroyed a number of its pursuers before jumping to hyperspace through one of the colony's walls. The remaining fighters pursued the Falcon regardless, with Dameron beginning to lightspeed skip through a number of systems, whose dangers the First Order pilots were unable to evade.[39] Dameron's boldness allowed him to out maneuver the enemy, though his reckless trick-flying heavily damaged the Falcon, causing multiple fires both within and outside of the ship. Upon returning to the Resistance base on Ajan Kloss, Rey berated a fatigued Dameron for this, though he rebuffed her by noting that his favored droid BB-8 was in similarly poor condition due to her earlier training accident. Rey dismissed the pilot, quipping that he was a difficult man, before hugging Finn, who jokingly joined her in condemning his companion. Although Rey was further angered by the revelation that Dameron lightspeed skipped with the Falcon, a maneuver that the aging freighter could not support, Dameron admitted the true cause of his concern: Rey was "the best fighter [the Resistance had]," but she had spent her time training and furthering her knowledge of the Force rather than participating in the war against the First Order.[39] After learning that Darth Sidious had returned, and that the Final Order, a massive fleet of Xyston-class Star Destroyers built by the Sith Eternal, was on Exegol, Rey learned from Luke Skywalker's notes that a Sith wayfinder could lead them there. Leia revealed that an ally on Pasaana may be able to help. Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewbacca, BB-8, and C-3PO departed in the Millennium Falcon as it underwent repairs.[39] The First Order later captured the Falcon, Chewbacca, and the dagger; attempting to save Chewbacca, Rey accidentally destroyed a First Order transport with Force lightning. Presuming that Chewbacca has been killed, the group escaped on Ochi's ship. The Falcon was later carried by a group of TIE fighters to the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Steadfast.[39] Poe suggested traveling to the planet Kijimi to have the Sith text extracted from C-3PO's memory. Although the process would wipe the droid's memory, the coordinates to the wayfinder would be revealed. The Steadfast later arrived on Kijimi, with Rey sensing that Chewbacca was, in fact, still alive and that the Falcon was onboard the Star Destroyer. The group then mounted a rescue mission.[39] As Rey searched for the dagger to get more clues, the group later rescued Chewbacca but managed to get themselves captured. General Hux was then revealed to be the First Order spy, having leaked information to the Resistance in order to bring about the downfall of Kylo Ren's rule.[39] Ren later arrived and initiated a Force bond with Rey, in which he revealed that she was Sidious' granddaughter, with her father being the son of the Emperor. Kylo once again asked Rey to join him, but she refused and escaped in the Falcon.[39] Having discerned the location of the Sith wayfinder, the group traveled to Kef Bir, a moon within the Endor system. Kylo Ren later arrived on Kef Bir, destroyed Rey's wayfinder and dueled with the scavenger. Dying, Leia called to Kylo through the Force, distracting him long enough for Rey to seize the opportunity to impale him with his own lightsaber. Sensing Leia's death and feeling pity for the injured Ren, Rey healed the conflicted Supreme Leader and eventually took his ship in order to exile herself on Ahch-To.[39] The group, save for Rey, returned to base. The Resistance then followed Rey's coordinates to Exegol, as she traveled to confront her destiny and Sidious, at the behest of the Force spirit Luke Skywalker, by flying his old T-65B X-wing starfighter there. Lando and Chewbacca, sought to gather allies of the Resistance for the final battle against the Sith, traveled to the core worlds.[39] The Millennium Falcon arrives on Exegol with a massive makeshift starship fleet made up of people from across the galaxy. The Falcon later arrived at Exegol, leading the Citizens' Fleet comprised of many Resistance ships from systems all across the galaxy, against the extensive forces of the Sith Eternal. Finn and the Kef Bir native Jannah led an assault onboard the hull of the Steadfast, the command ship of the battle. They successfully the destroyed the command bridge and prevented the Sith fleet from leaving Exegol. As the Steadfast was about to crash, the Falcon promptly rescued Finn and Jannah. The Resistance then destroyed the remaining forces of the Sith Eternal.[39] With the Final Order destroyed by the combined forces of the Exegol strike team and the galaxy fleet, Rey and the Resistance emerged victorious, left Exegol to return to Ajan Kloss. Rey, accompanied by BB-8, later took the Falcon to Tatooine, to visit Luke Skywalker's old, abandoned home. She then buried Anakin's and Leia's lightsabers beneath the sands of the homestead, having built her own.[39] Behind the scenes The Millenium Falcon first appeared in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, the first installment of the Star Wars original trilogy. In the scenes with Lando Calrissian and Nien Nunb in the Falcon in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, the set of the ship was rocked to stimulate the Falcon's flight.[60] Unused concept art of the Millennium Falcon with cargo pods for Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Incredible Cross-Sections It was speculated that the Millennium Falcon would make an appearance in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith to further tie the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy, and the ship did indeed make a cameo in the movie. At the beginning of one shot closing in on a docking bay on Coruscant, a YT-1300 freighter is seen flying in to dock. George Lucas confirmed that it was the Millennium Falcon and not just another ship of the same class.[61] For the Star Wars Anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story, the interior Falcon sets were the same ones used in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, although they were redressed. These sets were augmented with the addition of extra sets depicting Lando Calrissian's quarters and cape closet.[62] The Falcon's serial number For Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Incredible Cross-Sections, the author Jason Fry intended for the book to include information about the freighter series being able to act as a cargo pusher, but was unable to get the image in time.[63] This information was later added to the YT-1300 Millennium Falcon Owners' Workshop Manual. The infographic Fictional Travel Times estimated that the Millennium Falcon, with its class 0.5 hyperdrive, can travel at 6.13 quadrillion miles per hour, and that it may be capable of traveling from one galaxy to another within 100 days.[64] In Episode IV, the Millennium Falcon had only three landing gear legs but five landing gear legs in Episode V. Solo fixes this by revealing the Millennium Falcon had five landing gear legs but two were lost during the Kessel Run.[12] Appearances Wiki-shrinkable.png Explore all of Wookieepedia's images for this article subject.     5-Minute Star Wars Villain Stories     Star Wars: Galactic Defense     Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes     Star Wars: Force Arena     Star Wars Battlefront II     Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith     Lando's Luck     Lando's Luck audiobook     Lando - Double or Nothing 1     Lando - Double or Nothing 2     Lando - Double or Nothing 3     Lando - Double or Nothing 4     Lando - Double or Nothing 5     Solo: A Star Wars Story     Solo: A Star Wars Story: Expanded Edition     Solo: A Star Wars Story: Expanded Edition audiobook     Solo: A Star Wars Story: A Junior Novel     Solo: A Star Wars Story: A Junior Novel audiobook     Solo: A Star Wars Story: Meet the Crew     Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation 1 (Cover only)     Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation 3     Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation 4     Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation 5     Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation 6     Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation 7     Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures logo.png Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures – "Han Solo - From Smuggler to General"     Star Wars: Starfighter Missions     Lost Stars     Lost Stars audiobook     Lost Stars webcomic     Han Solo & Chewbacca 1     Han Solo & Chewbacca 2     Han Solo & Chewbacca 3     Han Solo & Chewbacca 4     Han Solo & Chewbacca 5     Han Solo & Chewbacca 6     Leia, Princess of Alderaan     Leia, Princess of Alderaan audiobook     Leia Organa: Ordeal of the Princess (In flashback(s))     Last Shot     Last Shot audiobook     Forces of Destiny: The Leia Chronicles     The Mighty Chewbacca in the Forest of Fear! (Musée national du Moyen Âge, hôtel de Cluny, Paris) A ring is a round band, usually made of metal, worn as ornamental jewelry. The term "ring" by itself always denotes jewellery worn on the finger; when worn as an ornament elsewhere, the body part is specified within the term, e.g., earrings, neck rings, arm rings, and toe rings. Rings always fit snugly around or in the part of the body they ornament, so bands worn loosely, like a bracelet, are not rings. Rings may be made of almost any hard material: wood, bone, stone, metal, glass, gemstone or plastic. They may be set with gemstones (diamond, ruby, sapphire or emerald) or with other types of stone or glass. Although some people wear rings as mere ornaments or as conspicuous displays of wealth, rings have symbolic functions respecting marriage, exceptional achievement, high status or authority, membership in an organization, and the like. Rings can be made to sport insignia which may be impressed on a wax seal or outfitted with a small compartment in which to conceal things. In myth, fable, and fiction, rings are often endowed with spiritual or supernatural significance. History The parts of a ring: 1) hoop, 2) shoulder, 3) bezel, and 4) stone or gem in setting or mounting Ancient India Rings[1] and other types of jewelry including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, bangles and pendants have been discovered from the 3rd millennium BC Indus Valley civilization. Factories of small beads have been discovered in Lothal, India.[2] Ancient Near East Rings have been found in tombs in Ur dating back to circa 2500 BC.[3] The Hittite civilization produced rings, including signet rings, only a few of which have been discovered.[4] People in Old Kingdom Egypt wore a variety of rings, of which a few examples have been found, including the famous scarab design.[4] Rings became more common during the Egyptian Middle Kingdom, containing increasingly complex designs.[4] Egyptians made not only metal rings but rings from faience, some of which were used as new year gifts.[5] Native styles were superseded by Greek and Roman fashions during the Ptolemaic dynasty.[4] Archaic and classical Greek Archaic Greek rings were to some extent influenced by Egyptian rings, although they tended to be less substantial and were not generally used as working signet rings.[6] As gold was not locally available, rings made in the eastern colonies tended to be made from silver and bronze, while Etruscans used gold.[6] The classical period showed a shift away from bronze to a wider adoption of silver and gold. The most typical design of the period involved a lozenge bezel mounting an intaglio device.[7] Over time, the bezel moved towards a more circular form.[7] Roman Rings Henig II rings from the Snettisham Jeweller's Hoard During the early and middle imperial era (first two centuries AD), a typical Roman ring consisted of a thick hoop that tapered directly into a slightly wider bezel.[8] An engraved oval gem would be embedded within the bezel with the top of the gem only rising slightly above the surrounding ring material.[8] Such rings are known as Henig II and III/Guiraud 2 in formal academic parlance or simply as Roman rings to modern jewellers.[8] In general, Roman rings became more elaborate in the third and fourth centuries AD.[9] High and Late Middle Ages in Europe During this period, it was fashionable for several rings to be worn on each hand and each finger. Rings during this period were mostly made from copper-based alloys, silver or gold.[10] Gems became common after 1150, along with the belief that certain gems had the power to help or protect the wearer in various ways.[10] Engraved rings were produced using Lombardic script until around 1350, when it was replaced by Gothic script.[10] Some of the inscriptions were devotional, others romantic in nature.[10][11] For romantic inscriptions, French was the language of choice.[11] An increasing use of contracts and other documents requiring formal seals meant that signet rings became more important from the 13th century onwards.[10] Ring location Each finger had a symbolic association or meaning (most of which were lost in antiquity and varied with culture) for the placement of a ring, significant to observers. The fourth digit or ring finger of the left hand has become the customary place to wear betrothal, engagement and wedding rings in much of the world, though in certain countries the right hand finger is used.[12] This custom was practically established as norm during World War II.[13] The use of the fourth finger of the left hand (the 'ring finger') is associated with an old belief that the left hand's ring finger is connected by a vein directly to the heart: the vena amoris, or vein of love. This idea was in vogue in the 16th and 17th century England, when Henry Swinburne referred to it in his book about marriage.[14] It can be traced to ancient Rome, when Aulus Gellius cited Appianus as saying that the ancient Egyptians had found a fine nerve linking the fourth finger to the heart.[15] Occasionally rings have been re-purposed to hang from bracelets or necklaces.[16] The signet ring is traditionally worn on the left pinky or little finger.[17] A birthstone ring and/or "birthday" stone ring is customarily worn on the first finger of the right hand and indicates respectively the month and day of the week in and on which the bearer was born. Amulet rings, meaningful for various purposes from protection (pentacle rings) to augmenting personal attributes (wisdom, confidence, social status etc.), are worn on various fingers, often depending on the intent of the ring's design or attributes of the stone inset. Although it has been thought that amulet rings worn on specific fingers for specific purposes enhanced their powers, most people simply wear them on any finger on which they fit. Thumb rings were originally worn to protect the thumb from injuries caused by the launching of arrows and are a sign of an archer. Size Main article: Ring size While the ISO standard defines ring size in terms of the inner circumference (measured in millimeters), various countries still use traditional sizing systems. Sizing beads, which functionally reduce the ring size, are small metal beads added to the inner surface of a ring to hold it in place against the finger; they have the advantage of being easily added or removed. Styles After several thousand years of ring manufacture, the total number of styles produced is vast. Even cataloging the rings of a single civilization, such as the Romans, presents a major challenge. As a result, the following list should be considered to be very limited. Ring     Image     Usage Aqiq ring         A carnelian or agate ring worn by some Muslims in imitation of Muhammad. Birthstone ring         Usually a slender, simple ring (sometimes consisting of a band), set with the wearer's birthstone or the birthstone of the wearer's spouse. Some couples wear birthstones set with a wedding anniversary month birthstone as well as other commemorative stones. Cameo (carving) ring     Cameo ring bm 2022.JPG     A plain hoop mounted by a table setting, into which is affixed a carved cameo. This ring style is exceedingly ancient and was more commonly worn by men than women. Ancient cameos depicted pagan gods, Christian saints and even self-portraits. The modern cameo ring usually shows the profile of a goddess or a Roman soldier. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Safety A method of removing a ring. Wearing a ring can in some cases be a safety concern, when the ring is made of a material stronger than the hand, fully encircles the digit, and catches onto an immovable object. This can result in serious injury (degloving), amputation, or ring avulsion.[32][33] Some recommend specifically not to use a ring while operating machinery or playing sports. If a ring catches on rotating machinery, or the ring of a falling person catches on a stationary object, the wearer may suffer injury. For these reasons, some workplaces require employees to remove their rings temporarily while performing certain tasks or when in certain areas of a workplace. Despite the ring's symbolic appeal as a solid band around the finger, modern jewelers are sometimes known to modify rings such that, at worst, they only tear the flesh of the wearer's finger in cases like those above-mentioned.[citation needed] Such "breakaway" modifications have not yet achieved popularity as standard designs.[citation needed] If the area near a ring is injured, the ring is removed immediately, before the injury starts to swell.[34] Pulling rings off forcefully may worsen the swelling. Relaxation, elevation, icing, lubrication, and rotating the ring as if unscrewing it may help. If these methods don't work, it may be possible to remove the ring by temporarily wrapping the finger with a slick string (something like dental floss), passing the inner end of the thread under the ring, and then unwrapping it, pushing the ring ahead of the unwrapping string. Failing that, a doctor may remove it by other methods.[35] Other types     Arm rings     Earring     Neck rings     Pinky ring See also Wikimedia Commons has media related to Finger rings.     Birthstones     Jewellery cleaning     Metal casting     Ring of O     Seal of Solomon (Solomon's ring, a.k.a. ring of Solomon)     Smart ring     Titanium ring References Studies in the Development of Ornaments and Jewellery in Proto-historic India, Volume 41. p. 130. Thus, one of the most successful cinematic sagas of all time was born. What began as a space opera detailing the fall and rise of the Skywalker family soon grew into a transmedia empire that tells stories of smugglers, bounty hunters, clones, Jedi Knights, and freedom fighters in the form of films, comic books, video games, TV series, novels, theme park attractions, and toy lines. Today, more than 40 years after it first arrived, "Star Wars" remains a global pop culture phenomenon — and the story still isn't over. There's so much stuff happening in the "Star Wars" saga that it can be hard to keep it all straight. That's why we're here to help. Whether you're new to this whole "Star Wars" thing or you just want a refresher on one plot point or another, this is the entire "Star Wars" story, explained. A long time ago... Mandalorian armorer with Dark Saber Disney+     Having evolved and discovered hyperspace travel, the intelligent life of the "Star Wars" universe forms the original Galactic Republic. The Jedi Order, a group of peacekeepers with a connection to the Force, is also established. But rogue Jedi soon emerge, split from the order, and become the Sith, who use the dark side of the Force. Powerful warriors known as the Mandalorians also fight the Jedi Order. The Mandalorian-Jedi War devastates Mandalore, their home world. Despite this animosity, a Mandalorian warrior named Tarre Vizsla is inducted into the Jedi Order and constructs the Darksaber, a unique black-bladed lightsaber capable of slicing through anything, save beskar steel. The Darksaber also connects with the wielder on a subconscious level, becoming lighter or heavier based on the way its owner embraces or resists the connection. After Vizsla's death, the Darksaber passes through many hands and becomes a symbol of leadership. In order to properly obtain the Darksaber, however, one needs to defeat the previous owner in combat. After centuries of conflict, the Sith are seemingly wiped out in the Jedi-Sith War. In actuality, the sole survivor, Darth Bane, establishes the "Rule of Two." It dictates there can only be two Sith at one time — a master and an apprentice. This prevents infighting among multiple Sith Lords, and allows the Sith to go undercover. Around this time, the long-lived Maz Kanata is born, along with future Jedi Grandmaster Yoda. Yoda's activities during this period are unknown, but he eventually becomes a powerful Jedi who trains many Jedi Knights over the course of centuries. The High Republic Era The High Republic Era Penguin Random House     With the Sith seemingly eradicated, the Galactic Republic enters the High Republic Era. This is considered a golden age for the Jedi and the Galactic Republic, who are intent on expanding into dangerous Outer Rim territories and giving poorer citizens a place to flourish. This leads to the creation of Starlight Beacon, an enormous space station placed in a dark zone, to help travelers find their way. Despite the relative peace of the era, the Jedi still contend with disasters and conflict. After the freighter Legacy Run comes apart, large pieces of debris shoot out of hyperspace at near-lightspeed, colliding with planets and killing billions. This catastrophe is caused by the Nihil, a marauder group that extorts planets about to be hit by the dangerous debris. Though the Jedi and Republic work together to stop the Nihil, the conflict leads to the destruction of Starlight Beacon. The Nihl proceed to become the controlling power in the Outer Rim. Elsewhere, near the end of the High Republic Era, Count Dooku becomes one of the greatest Jedi of his generation and trains future Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. However, his interest in the Dark Side proves to be his undoing. In time, artifacts from this and earlier eras become highly sought after by both Jedi and Sith looking to increase their storehouses of knowledge and power. Other artifacts become the targets of rogue archeologists like Doctor Aphra, who sell ancient weapons to the highest bidder. A dark lord rises Sheev Palpatine 20th Century Fox     As the Jedi continue serving as the Galactic Republic's peacekeepers, the surviving Sith secretly begin plotting to overthrow them. They work with only two members at a time in the shadows of Republic prosperity. It's near the end of this millennium of peace that Darth Sidious, a Sith Lord who is also secretly Senator Sheev Palpatine of Naboo, sets his plan to eradicate the Jedi and seize control of the Republic's government in motion. A few years before Palpatine's plan begins gaining steam, a seemingly inconsequential event occurs that comes to affect the whole galaxy. A boy is born to a slave woman named Shmi Skywalker, who claims her son was conceived without a father. She names the kid Anakin. By the time he's a toddler, Anakin and his mother are both owned by a Toydarian named Watto and living on the desert planet Tatooine — but Anakin's destiny soon arrives and changes their lives forever. A special boy and a new threat Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui Gon Jinn, Anakin Skywalker and R2-D2 20th Century Fox     As part of his plan for galactic domination, Sidious acts as secret advisor to the greedy Trade Federation, and orders them to blockade and invade the peaceful planet of Naboo. Once the Trade Federation arrives on the planet, Sidious, in his Senator Palpatine role, steps in to advise Naboo's queen, Padme Amidala. He tells her the current chancellor of the Republic isn't acting in their best interests when it comes to fending off the invading army of droids. Working with his Sith apprentice Darth Maul, Sidious manipulates and manufactures tensions in the Republic from both sides. Palpatine is elected chancellor at Amidala's urging, granting him unprecedented power to further his plans. The Trade Federation is ultimately defeated on Naboo, but the underlying damage is done. Meanwhile, two Jedi Knights — Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi — happen upon young Anakin Skywalker while repairing their starship on Tatooine. Qui-Gon senses unprecedented levels of Force sensitivity in the boy, who is already an accomplished podracer and mechanic. Qui-Gon urges the Jedi Council to train Anakin, but the Jedi, sensing Anakin's fear, are reluctant. After Qui-Gon dies at the hands of Darth Maul and Obi-Wan seemingly kills Sidious' apprentice, however, the Council accepts Anakin as Obi-Wan's new Padawan. The Jedi discover a clone conspiracy Clones on Kamino 20th Century Fox     Over the next 10 years, Anakin Skywalker grows into a talented Padawan under now-Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Meanwhile, Darth Sidious takes on a new apprentice in former Jedi Count Dooku, who adopts the Sith name Darth Tyranus. Dooku, at Sidious' urging, creates tension in the Republic by forming the Separatists, a movement of several planets who want to secede from the Republic. As more star systems threaten secession, now-Senator Padme Amidala fights to keep the Republic together and is nearly assassinated. Obi-Wan is dispatched by the Jedi Council to find out who's behind the attempt on her life, while Anakin stays behind as her bodyguard. Obi-Wan's investigation uncovers an army of clones on the planet Kamino, seemingly ordered for the Republic by the dead Jedi Knight Sifo-Dyas. These clones were created from the DNA of a Mandalorian bounty hunter named Jango Fett, who was recruited by Darth Tyranus. As payment for helping to create and train this clone army, Jango has the Kaminoans create Boba, an unaltered clone of himself he raises as his son. Jango also continues to take side missions, including one which sees him attempt to murder Padme Amidala. After engaging Jango Fett in battle, Obi-Wan tracks him to the planet Geonosis, where Count Dooku is overseeing a gathering of new Separatist members. They're already planning on building the "ultimate weapon," later known as the Death Star. Before being captured by Dooku, Obi-Wan informs the Jedi Council of the clone army and Separatist meeting. This leads the Republic to grant Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers to use the clones in the fight against the Separatists, launching the Clone Wars ... which Palpatine is secretly controlling from both sides. Back on Naboo, Anakin and Padme fall in love. Anakin also grows increasingly rageful: After learning Tusken Raiders caused the death of his mother, he slaughters an entire camp of them. Obi-Wan's capture prompts Anakin and Padme to rescue him and participate in the Battle of Geonosis. During this battle, Dooku escapes, but not before he slices off Anakin's arm. The Clone Wars rock the Star Wars universe Ahsoka Tano and Clone Trooper Disney XD     The Clone Wars rage for three years, with Dooku acting as the figurehead of the Separatist movement and Palpatine the chancellor of the Republic. But of course, Sidious is the secret master of both sides, directing Dooku and pulling strings in the Senate. Meanwhile, a new warlord, the cybernetic General Grievous, commands the droid armies and becomes an important figure in the war. The war consumes system after system, forcing everyone to pick sides. The Jedi Order is tasked with commanding the clone army. Jedi Council leaders including Yoda, Mace Windu, and Ki-Adi-Mundi are drawn out of Coruscant to fight on the front lines, hampering their already-clouded vision and judgement. Bounty hunters like Cad Bane and pirates like Hondo Ohnaka begin profiting from the war, becoming both adversaries and allies to the Jedi depending on who's paying the bill. As the conflict continues, Padme remains a force in the Senate, working for unity and fully believing she can trust Palpatine to end the conflict. As for Obi-Wan and Anakin, they fight on the front lines. Anakin even takes on a Jedi apprentice named Ahsoka Tano. Anakin and Ahsoka form a close bond, but when Ahsoka is framed for bombing the Jedi Temple and killing antiwar activist Letta Turmond, she becomes disillusioned and leaves the Jedi Order. New allies rise, old enemies return The Bad Batch and Omega Disney+     Darth Maul, Sidious' former apprentice, emerges after years of surviving on the dark side of the Force and sheer hatred. Maul's brother — the evocatively named Savage Opress — and the Nightsisters of Dathomir restore Maul with mechanical legs. Together, Maul and Savage scheme to seize power on Mandalore and form a criminal enterprise, which puts them in direct conflict with Sidious. During his invasion of Mandalore, Maul slays Satine Kalevala, Mandalore's pacifist ruler and Obi-Wan's former flame. Satine's sister Bo-Katan, a lieutenant in the terrorist group Death Watch, becomes intent on ending Maul's rule and allies herself with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka. Meanwhile, thousands of clone troopers manufactured to fight as disposable soldiers develop personalities and dreams of their own. Some, like Captain Rex, form strong friendships with the Jedi. Others, like Cut Lawquane, desert the army. And then there's Clone Force 99, aka the Bad Batch. Designed with genetic mutations that make them stronger, smarter, and deadlier than standard clones, the Bad Batch is sent on high-risk missions suited to their unique gifts. Later, Advanced Recon Commando Clone Corporal CT-1409, or "Echo," joins the unit after being radically altered with cybernetic implants. All clones are outfitted with inhibitor chips that allow Darth Sidious to override their free will with pre-programmed orders. During the war, a clone known as Fives discovers the chips' real purpose but is killed before he can reveal the truth. Nevertheless, some clones remain suspicious of their own creation. Elsewhere, Anakin and Padme are married in secret. But Anakin's darker tendencies grow more and more fierce — particularly when it comes to protecting his loved ones. The Sith Lord revealed Anakin and Palpatine at the opera 20th Century Fox     In the final days of the Clone Wars, Darth Maul, now going by "Maul," has a vision of the rise of the Galactic Empire. Hoping to lure Obi-Wan and Anakin to Mandalore so he can murder them and prevent Sidious' rise, Maul finds himself battling Ahsoka, who allies herself with the clone troopers and Bo-Katan. Maul is captured and Mandalore regains its independence ... for a brief moment. Meanwhile, Sidious (acting as Chancellor Palpatine) allows himself to be taken prisoner by General Grievous. This kick-starts a major rescue mission. In the following battle over Coruscant, Obi-Wan and Anakin infiltrate Grievous' ship to rescue Palpatine. Inside, they find Dooku. Anakin kills the Separatist leader at Palpatine's behest. Even though he doesn't know it yet, Anakin has basically just made himself Sidious' new apprentice. With Palpatine rescued, the Republic presses their advantage, and Yoda and Obi-Wan are sent to the front lines to finish the conflict once and for all. Back on Coruscant, Padme informs Anakin that she's pregnant, and his dreams become troubled by visions of his wife dying in childbirth. Anakin is also drawn into a game of espionage between Palpatine and the Jedi. The chancellor appoints him as his liaison on the Jedi Council, who request Anakin spy on the chancellor. This doesn't sit well with Anakin, who grows closer to Palpatine, especially after the chancellor hints he might have knowledge that can prevent Padme's death. To push his plan into its final stages, Sidious reveals himself as a Sith Lord to Anakin. Anakin reports Sidious to Mace Windu, who attempts to arrest the Sith Lord. During the ensuing battle, Anakin chooses to save Sidious, allowing the Sith Lord to murder Mace Windu. The fall of the Jedi Anakin kills the younglings 20th Century Fox     With Mace Windu dead, Anakin pledges himself to Darth Sidious in the hopes of saving Padme. Sidious dubs him Darth Vader and orders him to slaughter everyone inside the Jedi Temple — even the defenseless younglings. One of the younglings, a human girl named Reva, witnesses Anakin murder her friends and survives by hiding among the corpses. Badly traumatized, Reva chooses to embrace the dark side and spends the next several years hunting down Vader. Sidious' goes on to initiate Order 66, which require all clone troopers to terminate their Jedi generals on sight and launches the Great Jedi Purge. Only a handful of Jedi, including Obi-Wan and Yoda, are able to fend off their attackers. Ahsoka Tano fights a particularly grueling battle aboard the star destroyer transporting the imprisoned Maul; she's forced to free Maul so he can distract enough clones to give her an advantage. Meanwhile, in the Senate, Palpatine uses his power to declare the Jedi outlaws, and turns the Republic into the Galactic Empire. While most clone troopers obey Order 66, there are some exceptions. Ahsoka removes the inhibitor chip in Commander Rex's brain, granting him his free will and allowing them both to flee. The Bad Batch's mutations make them largely immune to their chips, although some, like sharpshooter Crosshair, later succumb. The Bad Batch's unwillingness to kill Jedi allows a Padawan named Caleb Dume to escape the Purge. Shortly afterwards, the Bad Batch (minus Crosshair) goes on the run with the clone child Omega, who turns out to be another unmodified (albeit female) clone of Jango Fett. Meanwhile, Sidious decides to end the war by sending Vader to the planet Mustafar, where the new Sith Lord kills all the remaining Separatist leaders and shuts down the clone army. Obi-Wan and Yoda make their move: The former goes to fight Vader on Mustafar, while the latter confronts Sidious on Coruscant. Unfortunately, Padme reaches Vader first. When she tries to make him see the error of his ways, he nearly chokes her to death. Sidious battles Yoda to a stalemate, while Obi-Wan gains the high ground and defeats Vader by severing his legs and remaining arm and leaving him to burn to death in a lava flow. Heroes forced into exile Obi-Wan and Yoda 20th Century Fox     After Obi-Wan returns from Mustafar with an unconscious Padme, he and Yoda regroup with Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan. Padme gives birth to twins Luke and Leia before passing away, leaving the children effectively orphaned. Yoda suggests splitting the twins up and placing them in hiding. Leia is adopted by Organa and his wife Breha, while Luke is sent to Tatooine to live with Anakin's stepbrother, Owen Lars, and his wife Beru. Both Obi-Wan and Yoda go into exile to plan the eventual resurgence of the Jedi. Obi-Wan moves to Tatooine to keep watch over Luke, while Yoda travels to the swamps of Dagobah to live in solitude and reflect on a defeat he never saw coming. In the absence of the Jedi, Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine consolidates his vast power with Vader (now wearing a black, armored life support suit) by his side. They eliminate political opponents as necessary and turn the Empire into a military dictatorship. Even as Sidious celebrates, however, a small group of leaders — among them Bail Organa and Mon Mothma – are already sowing the seeds of rebellion. The return of Obi-Wan Kenobi Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+     Ten years after the Great Jedi Purge, Palpatine obsessively pursues any leads on former Jedi in hiding. He creates an order of elite warriors known as Inquisitors to further this goal, dispatching them throughout the galaxy to kill Jedi. Many Inquisitors are former Jedi themselves, including Reva, now going by "Third Sister." Still intent on killing Darth Vader, Reva becomes obsessed with locating Obi-Wan Kenobi, hoping Anakin Skywalker's former master will draw out Vader. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan has become a shadow of his former self. Haunted by memories of the war and Anakin's betrayal, the old Jedi, now calling himself "Ben Kenobi," cuts himself off from the Force and chooses to watch Luke only from afar. However, he's pulled back into action when Reva hires criminals to kidnap 10-year-old Princess Leia Organa from Alderaan, hoping her adoptive father Bail Organa will bring Obi-Wan out of hiding. Although Obi-Wan rescues Leia, his actions bring him before Darth Vader. Taking advantage of Obi-Wan's weakened state, Vader tortures his former friend, but Jedi sympathizers get Obi-Wan to safety. When Leia is recaptured by Reva, Obi-Wan finds hope in his allies and love for Leia and mounts a successful rescue mission. Still pursued by Vader, Obi-Wan chooses to face his former apprentice. With his renewed connection to the Force, Obi-Wan defeats Vader in a decisive battle. Back on Tatooine, Reva, having failed to kill Darth Vader, decides to track down and kill Luke Skywalker upon learning of the boy's existence in a message left by Bail Organa. After overpowering Luke's Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, Reva attempts to murder Luke but can't after recognizing that she's about to commit the same type of atrocity Anakin did during Order 66. Informed by Obi-Wan that she must now choose a new path, Reva lays down her Inquisitor weapon. In the aftermath, Obi-Wan introduces himself to Luke and reconnects with the Force Ghost of his Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. He also gets to say goodbye to Leia and lets her know she can call on his help again ... but they must be careful not to let anyone know about their friendship. Inspired by her experiences with Obi-Wan, Leia decides to continue helping people, both as a politician and a fighter. A rebel without a cause Han Solo and Chewbacca Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures     Though much of the Star Wars story revolves around the exploits of the Skywalker family, one key player has a decidedly different origin. Han Solo, a Corellian orphan working for a local crime lord, makes a failed attempt to escape the planet with his girlfriend, Qi'ra. This leads him to enlist in the Imperial Navy. After three years of service, during which time he's expelled from the flight academy and made an infantryman, Solo deserts and joins up with an outlaw named Beckett to earn a new life for himself as a pilot and smuggler. His path through the underworld of the Outer Rim reunites him with Qi'ra, now a trusted lieutenant in the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate. They embark on a mission to steal a valuable shipment of coaxium fuel for Crimson Dawn boss Dryden Vos. Along the way, Solo meets the Wookiee Chewbacca, obtains the Millennium Falcon from gambler Lando Calrissian, and evades Imperial ships by making the deadly Kessel Run in twelve parsecs (as long as you round down). Shortly after stealing the coaxium, Solo discovers rival gang Enfys Nest is made up of freedom fighters trying to start a rebellion against the Empire. Sympathetic to their cause, Solo betrays Dryden Vos and gives the coaxium to these early Rebels. However, Solo is betrayed by both Beckett, whom he's forced to kill, and Qi'ra, who leaves Han for her real boss: Maul. Disillusioned and distrustful, Solo remains a smuggler for the next decade. Rise of the Rebels Star Wars Rebels the Ghost Crew Disney XD     Over time, the small band of resistance leaders met by Han Solo and the Jedi sympathizers aided by Obi Wan Kenobi grow more organized, and the Rebel Alliance begins to take root. Initially, the movement is a guerrilla affair divided into multiple cells, who have little knowledge of each other. One cell, which travels aboard a light freighter named Ghost, consists of ex-Padawan Caleb Dume (now calling himself Kanan Jarrus), Hera Syndulla, C1-10P (aka Chopper), Garazeb Orrelios, Jacen Syndulla, Sabine Wren, and Ezra Bridger, a young Force-sensitive man who becomes Kanan's apprentice. During a mission, Ezra encounters an elderly Maul in an abandoned Sith Temple. Still a physical threat, Maul initially presents himself as an ally. However, it soon becomes apparent he wants to groom Ezra as his new apprentice. Ultimately, Maul tracks down Obi-Wan, who's still watching over Luke Skywalker on Tatooine. When Maul threatens Luke's life, Obi-Wan kills the former Sith Lord — for good this time. Ahsoka, now working as a Rebel informant codenamed "Fulcrum," makes contact with the Ghost crew and joins them on multiple missions. Her time with them is cut short, however, when she battles Darth Vader on the planet Malachor. Realizing who Vader really is, Ahsoka swears she won't leave him, and is seemingly killed. Later, Ezra finds himself in the World Between Worlds, a mystical dimension that connects all space and time. Hearing the voices of Jedi from the past, present, and future, Ezra sees Ahsoka just as Vader is about to kill her. He pulls her out of her time and into his. Ezra eventually disappears alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn while freeing his people from the Empire's control. The fall of Mandalore Great Purge of Mandalore Disney+     Following the Siege of Mandalore and Maul's capture, Bo-Katan is made regent of Mandalore by the Republic. However, she loses this position after the Empire occupies the planet and establishes an Imperial Academy. Intent on reclaiming her world, Bo-Katan nearly gets her chance when Sabine Wren comes into possession of the Darksaber, which she offers to Bo-Katan. However, since Bo-Katan did not earn this weapon in combat, her claim to it (and Mandalore's throne) becomes suspect. Around this time, a young boy named Din Djarin is orphaned when Separatist battle droids invade his village. Before the droids can kill him, Din is saved by the Children of the Watch, a zealous Mandalorian cult. Raised in their ways, Din comes to believe he can never remove his helmet in the presence of others and still be considered a Mandalorian. Meanwhile, the Empire, frustrated by its inability to control Mandalore, launches a Great Purge that leads to the near-total genocide of the planet's people. Later known as the Night of a Thousand Tears, this attack scatters surviving Mandalorians across the galaxy. The Empire, in full control, casts Mandalorian stockpiles of beskar steel into Imperial ingots. Elsewhere, Imperial officer Moff Gideon takes the Darksaber from Bo-Katan. As the Empire appears to grow in strength, Galen Erso, a Rebel sympathizer forced to work on the Death Star, a massive battle station with the power to wipe out an entire planet, places a key flaw that will allow the Rebels to destroy it. Galen gets a message through to his daughter Jyn, who rallies a group of Rebels and the Guardians of the Whills to steal the Death Star plans. In an all-out battle on the planet Scraif, the team succeeds at the cost of their lives, giving the struggling Rebel Alliance hope. A new hope emerges Luke Skywalker training with lightsaber 20th Century Fox     Princess Leia Organa, now a key member of the Rebel Alliance, flees Scarif with the Death Star plans. When Vader shows up to capture her, Leia hides the plans and a message to her old friend Obi-Wan Kenobi in a droid named R2-D2 who escapes to Tatooine in a pod with another droid named C-3PO. The plans fall into the hands of Leia's twin brother, Luke Skywalker, a farm boy with dreams of being a Rebel pilot. After viewing Leia's message, Luke seeks out the old Jedi, still going by Ben Kenobi. Obi-Wan reveals he was once a Jedi Knight, though he keeps Vader's identity a secret. Determined to get the plans to Alderaan, Luke and Obi-Wan hire Han Solo (in serious debt to gangster Jabba the Hutt) and Chewbacca to take them there. Sadly, Alderaan is obliterated by the Death Star's commander, Grand Moff Tarkin. Obi-Wan, Luke, Han, and Chewbacca infiltrate the station, but Vader soon senses his former master's presence. A long-awaited rematch between Obi-Wan and Vader ensues, which ends in Obi-Wan's death. Back at the Rebel base on Yavin IV, the Alliance forms a plan to exploit the Death Star's fatal flaw. Luke volunteers to fight, while Han Solo leaves with a hefty reward. The assault commences as Tarkin sends the Death Star to destroy the Alliance and Vader joins the counterattack in his own fighter. At the last moment, Han returns to help. He shoots Vader out of the sky, leaving Luke free to destroy the Death Star. With the help of the Force, Luke saves the Rebel base and hands the Empire its biggest defeat yet. A major revelation Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader 20th Century Fox     Three years pass. Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewie become a cohesive unit of freedom fighters for the Alliance, which moves its base to the remote ice planet Hoth. After thoroughly searching the galaxy, Vader locates the base and launches a full-scale assault, prompting an evacuation. Han, Leia, Chewie and C-3PO flee in the Falcon, while Luke departs for Dagobah with R2-D2, having received a message from Obi-Wan's ghost telling him to seek Jedi training from Yoda. As Luke grows, Palpatine senses his potential. Vader, realizing who Luke truly is, decides to convert him to the dark side. He also recruits a team of bounty hunters to find the Millennium Falcon. Among their number is Boba Fett, now regarded as one of the deadliest bounty hunters in the universe. After being ordered to take Han Solo alive, Fett tracks the Falcon to the gas planet Bespin, where Solo's old friend Lando gives up the Falcon and her crew. Sensing his friends are in danger, Luke goes to Bespin against Yoda's wishes, leading him right into Vader's trap. Intending to freeze Luke in carbonite, Vader tests the procedure on Han Solo, prompting Leia to admit her love for the smuggler. As Fett takes Solo's body to Jabba, Vader and Luke throw down in an epic lightsaber duel. After cutting off Luke's hand, Vader reveals he's Luke's father. Devastated, Luke falls into an air shaft and is rescued by Leia, Lando, and Chewie. They quickly start plotting Han's rescue. Rescuing Han Solo Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi Force Ghost 20th Century Fox     Leia and Lando infiltrate Jabba's palace, but Leia is captured after defrosting her boyfriend. Luke sends C-3PO and R2-D2 ahead as "gifts" for Jabba, before entering himself. Jabba captures Luke and tries to have him and Han thrown into a Sarlacc pit. But, as Luke reveals, his new lightsaber is hidden in R2-D2's body. Alongside Han, Chewie, and Lando, Luke annihilates Jabba's bodyguards. Leia, forced to toil as Jabba's slave girl, strangles the giant gangster with her own chains. During the battle, Boba Fett, now employed by Jabba, falls into the Sarlacc pit after a blind Han Solo damages his jetpack. Fett manages to free himself with his flamethrower. Weakened and stripped of his armor by scavenging Jawas, Fett is captured and eventually adopted by a tribe of Tusken Raiders. Luke briefly returns to Dagobah to complete his Jedi training, only to be told by a dying Yoda that he does not require any further instruction: Confronting Darth Vader will make him a true Jedi. As Yoda becomes one with the Force, he reveals there is another Skywalker. Later, Obi-Wan's ghost informs Luke this other Skywalker is his twin sister, whom Luke immediately deduces is Leia. Although Luke insists he can't kill his own father, Obi-Wan indicates that if he doesn't, the Emperor will win. The redemption of Anakin Skywalker Anakin, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda Force Ghosts 20th Century Fox     The Death Star II is fitted with a shield generated by a satellite dish on the forest moon of Endor. The Rebels launch a covert attack to destroy this generator and a full-scale fleet assault to destroy the Death Star once the shield is down. Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewie lead the Endor team, while Lando, Admiral Ackbar, and Wedge Antilles lead the fleet strike. The plan nearly goes south when Luke, Han, and Chewie are captured by the native Ewoks, but luckily, Leia and C-3PO get them on their side. Luke, realizing Vader is near, informs Leia of their relationship, then turns himself into Vader. As the battle commences, Vader brings Luke before the Emperor, who attempts to convert him. Luke resists until the Emperor reveals the Death Star is fully operational and capable of destroying the entire Rebel fleet. Hoping to kill the Emperor, Luke summons his lightsaber, leading to a duel with Vader. Tapping into his anger, Luke manages to overpower his father — but as he realizes he's following his dark example, Luke throws his lightsaber aside and proclaims himself a Jedi. Enraged, the Emperor tortures Luke with Force lightning. Pushed to the limit, Vader throws his master into the station's reactor core, apparently killing him. He dies soon after, redeemed. On Endor, Han and Leia destroy the shield generator, and the Rebel fleet destroys the Death Star. During the ensuing celebration, Luke burns his father's body, and watches Anakin's Force ghost join Obi-Wan and Yoda. Elsewhere, Ahsoka resurfaces and reunites with Sabine Wren. They go in search of a still-missing Ezra Bridger. Aftermath of the Empire Operation Cinder Disney+     News of Palpatine and Vader's deaths cause celebrations to break out across the galaxy. The Empire's remnants are sent into what ultimately becomes a semi-organized retreat. There are a few battles left to fight in the Civil War, but the Battle of Jakku, which takes place a year after the Battle of Endor, marks the last major conflict. Imperial loyalists are defeated and their military prowess is crippled. Despite this, remaining Imperial forces manage to do some major damage throughout the galaxy. Acting on posthumous instructions left by Darth Sidious known as "Operation Cinder," Imperial officers lay waste to multiple planets including Candovant, Abednedo, Commenor, and Cardos, which Sidious wanted to punish for failing to prevent his death. On the planet Burnin Konn, sadistic Imperial general Valin Hess orders a resisting city to be wiped out. This action kills thousands of people, including his entire division. One survivor, sharpshooter Migs Mayfeld, goes on to become a hired gun with deep resentments toward the Empire and Hess. New players arise The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda Disney+     Though the Rebel Alliance is working hard to establish a New Republic, no one knows who's truly in charge. Several key players emerge from this lawless turmoil. On the planet Nevarro, grown bounty hunter Din Djarin accepts a mysterious commission in exchange for a huge stockpile of beskar ingots. This job takes him to a desert planet, where he discovers Grogu, an infant of Yoda's species. Din bonds with the Child and decides to safeguard him from other bounty hunters and Imperial remnants. Meanwhile, Boba Fett, having lived among the Tusken Raiders for many years, attempts to help his new family by leading an attack on a spice-running hovertrain that regularly terrorizes his tribe. Unfortunately, this causes his entire tribe to be destroyed by the criminal Pyke Syndicate, who frame a local biker gang for the crime. After taking his revenge on the gang, Fett forms an alliance with fellow bounty hunter Fennec Shand and sets out to track down his missing armor. Said armor has fallen into the possession of Cobb Vanth, the marshal of a small town on Tatooine called Mos Pelgo. Vanth uses the armor to drive the Mining Collective away from his town, but later gives it up to Din Djarin after the Mandalorian helps him kill a krayt dragon that's been menacing the town. Din later encounters Boba Fett and allows him to reclaim the armor. The Mandalorians reshape the galaxy Boba Fett and Fennec Shand on the throne Disney+     Realizing he can't protect Grogu indefinitely, Din attempts to find the child's people. He comes into contact with new allies including Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano, who lead them to the planet Tython. There, Grogu reaches out through the Force to another member of his kind. In the process, the hapless little one is kidnapped by Imperial forces led by Moff Gideon. Din enters into an alliance with Boba Fett and Fennec Shand to rescue Grogu. He also enlists Migs Mayfeld, who helps him infiltrate an Imperial base and download key information. Mayfeld manages to kill Valin Hess in the process. Despite being aided by Bo-Katan, Boba Fett, former Rebel Cara Dune, and Mandalorian Koska Reeves, Din's rescue attempt nearly fails after Moff Gideon unleashes his army of Dark Troopers. At the last instant, Luke Skywalker — alerted by Grogu's distress call — arrives and saves the entire team. Din defeats Gideon in battle, winning the Darksaber, which puts him at odds with Bo-Katan. Grogu leaves with Luke, who intends to make him the first student of his new Jedi Academy. After consulting with Ahsoka and realizing Grogu would rather stay with Din, however, Luke lets him go. Meanwhile, Boba Fett returns to Tatooine, where he kills Jabba the Hutt's former majordomo Bib Fortuna and takes over his syndicate. Intending to build a new crime family with Fennec Shand, Fett runs into problems with the Pyke Syndicate, who don't like Fett's interference in the drug trade. Fett recruits Din, Wookiee bounty hunter Krrsantan, a gang of cyborgs, and the people of Cobb Vanth's town to help take down the syndicate. Although the Pykes send Fett's old mentor, the deadly Cad Bane, after him, Fett gains the upper hand and becomes Tatooine's reigning power. New villains arise Luke Skywalker vs. Ben Solo Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures     As major Rebel Alliance figures like Princess Leia and Mon Mothma shape the New Republic, the Empire's remnants retreat to the Outer Rim, as part of a contingency plan developed by Palpatine. There, they fall under the command of a mysterious Force user named Snoke, who has a passion for the dark side and key knowledge of both the Empire and the Skywalker bloodline. The ashes of the Empire soon give birth to the fearsome First Order. Meanwhile, Han and Leia have a son, Ben Solo, named in honor of Leia's friend Ben Kenobi. Luke finally starts a temple and takes Ben on as a student. Unfortunately, Snoke begins to influence Ben's personality, bringing out his darker tendencies. The young Jedi turns on Luke, converting some students and slaughtering others. Heartbroken, Luke goes into exile. Meanwhile, Leia's own political career is destroyed when opponents discover her connection to Darth Vader and turn public opinion against her. Sensing the threat of Snoke and the First Order, Leia becomes a General and forms an underground movement separate from the Republic, known as the Resistance. Where is Luke Skywalker? Po Dameron and Finn Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures     Snoke ultimately brings the First Order out of the shadows three decades after the Empire's defeat, with the goal of taking over the galaxy and exterminating Luke Skywalker. With the help of his military commander, General Armitage Hux, Snoke develops a massive system-killing weapon known as Starkiller Base. Meanwhile, he attempts to find Luke Skywalker through Ben Solo, now a powerful dark side warrior known as Kylo Ren. Luke's location is secreted away on a star map fragment hidden in a droid named BB-8. This droid is found by a Jakku scavenger named Rey, who teams up with First Order deserter Finn to return BB-8 to his base. Pursued by the First Order, Rey and Finn steal the long-dormant Millennium Falcon, only to run into Han Solo and Chewbacca. With Han and Chewie's help, Rey and Finn are able to return Luke's map to Leia and the Resistance — but not before Starkiller Base is activated. It wipes out the capital of the New Republic and sends the galaxy into a wave of chaos. Meanwhile, Rey comes across Anakin Skywalker's original lightsaber, which Kylo Ren covets. Curious about this Force-sensitive girl, Kylo abducts Rey, hoping to uncover Luke's hidden location. The next hope emerges Rey vs Kylo Ren Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures     With little time to mourn the Republic, General Leia Organa, Han Solo, Poe Dameron, Finn, and the Resistance launch a desperate attack to rescue Rey and destroy Starkiller Base. While rigging the base with explosives, Han confronts his son. But Kylo, hoping to prove he's truly turned to the Dark Side, murders his dad in cold blood. Horrified, Rey takes up Anakin's lightsaber and duels Kylo Ren using the Force gifts she's discovered while in First Order captivity. She defeats him but doesn't kill him. Hux and Kylo evacuate the base to return to Snoke, while Chewbacca rescues Rey and an injured Finn. Poe and his team manage to critically damage Starkiller Base, which explodes. After the battle, R2-D2 — who's been powered down since Luke disappeared — reveals he can complete the partial map BB-8 carries. Using this information, Rey journeys with R2-D2 and Chewbacca to a remote island on the planet Ahch-To. There, she asks Luke for help in destroying the First Order and to teach her the ways of the Force. Luke Skywalker, reluctant master Luke Skywalker and Rey Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures     Following the destruction of Starkiller Base, the First Order attacks the Resistance base on D'Qar, forcing them to evacuate. Poe Dameron leads a massive attack on the First Order fleet against General Leia Organa's wishes, and while the Resistance does escape, they lose many ships and pilots in the process. What's worse, the First Order can track the Resistance through hyperspace. It's only a matter of time before their fleet destroys the Resistance fighters. Hoping to disable the First Order's tracking device, Finn and fellow Resistance fighter Rose journey to lavish casino town Canto Bight, where they hope to find a master codebreaker capable of sabotaging the First Order. Instead, they team up with rogue thief DJ, who ends up selling them out. Meanwhile, Rey discovers Luke has become a shell of his former self who believes the Jedis' hubris has doomed the galaxy to darkness. As she tries to convince Luke to help the Resistance, Rey begins experiencing Force-connected conversations with Kylo Ren that are secretly engineered by Snoke. Luke reveals he briefly considered killing a young Ben Solo to prevent his fall to the dark side, which only made it easier for Snoke to convert him. Believing Ben is still capable of redemption, Rey leaves the island. Yoda's Force ghost uses Force lightning to burn down the planet's Jedi library, but not before Rey manages to smuggle out some of the ancient texts. The last Jedi Luke Skywalker Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures     Amid many struggles, Leia and Vice Admiral Holdo stage a last-ditch effort to preserve the Resistance, which gives the remaining fighters a way to reach an old Rebel base on the planet Crait. Unfortunately, DJ reveals this plan to the First Order. They begin picking off the evacuation transports. On Snoke's flagship, Rey allows herself to be captured so she can convert Kylo. Initially, this seems to work: Kylo kills Snoke and helps Rey fight off his guards. However, Kylo soon reveals his plans to become Supreme Leader and rule the galaxy with Rey by his side. Rey engages him in battle and destroys Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber. Unwilling to let the Resistance die, Vice Admiral Holdo flies the Resistance flagship into the First Order's fleet, crippling their starships and enabling Finn, Rose, and Rey to escape. The Resistance then mounts a final defense on Crait as now-Supreme Leader Kylo Ren leads a ground assault. The Resistance is outmatched — but then Luke Skywalker arrives to confront Kylo Ren himself. Luke engages Kylo Ren in a lightsaber duel, which allows the Resistance to flee. Once they're safe, Luke reveals he's actually a Force projection of the real Luke Skywalker, who is still back on Ahch-To. Unfortunately, this proves to be too much for the old Jedi. While the Resistance lives to fight on, Luke passes away, becoming one with the Force after years of closing himself off from it. The dead speak Emperor Palpatine on life support Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures     With Luke Skywalker gone, Rey trains with Leia. She also teaches herself Jedi lore using the texts she took from Ahch-To. Unfortunately, this keeps her out of many Resistance missions. As the Resistance is now drastically low on fighters, this is a major problem. They do gain one ally in the form of a secret First Order spy, however, later revealed to be Hux. He confirms the rumors gripping the galaxy: Emperor Palpatine has returned. This infuriates Kylo Ren, who hunts Palpatine down on the hidden Sith world of Exegol. The Supreme Leader soon finds the old Emperor, who's being kept alive by a complex life support system. Palpatine, it turns out, has been behind the First Order all along. He created Snoke using cloning technology and has been influencing Kylo Ren his entire life. The Sith Lord makes his secret protégé an offer: Kylo can rule the galaxy as a new Emperor with the help of a long-hidden fleet of planet-killing ships if he agrees to kill Rey. Meanwhile, the Resistance goes in search of a Sith Wayfinder, which can point the way to Palpatine. This journey leads them across several planets, where they fight everyone from Kylo Ren to First Order forces to the Knights of Ren. Along the way, Rey grows increasingly wary of her place in the world. This anxiety only increases when she discovers she has Sith abilities, including the power to project Force lightning. All of the Jedi against all of the Sith Rey and her yellow lightsaber Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures     Rey's anxieties regarding her identity come to a peak when Kylo Ren reveals her true heritage: She's Palpatine's granddaughter and heir to his power. After learning the truth, Rey nearly kills Kylo — but after Leia intervenes to save her son with her dying breath, she heals him. Rey considers going into exile but is convinced to return to the fight by the spirit of Luke Skywalker. Using Kylo's Wayfinder, Rey journeys to Exegol to confront Palpatine. There, the revived Emperor reveals his true plan: To possess her body and become the new Empress and leader of the Sith. Rey refuses, and fights Palpatine with the help of a redeemed Kylo Ren, only for Palpatine to drain their life energies and bring himself back to full power. When all seems lost, Rey draws on all the Jedi who came before her, allowing her to counter Palpatine, who represents the spirits of the Sith. Outside the Emperor's fortress, a Resistance fleet composed of thousands of random ships fights to save the galaxy from the Final Order fleet. In the end, both the Emperor and the fleet are defeated, and the galaxy is saved. In the aftermath of the battle, Rey forges her own lightsaber and buries those of her teachers in the Tatooine desert. Finally, she reveals she has taken a new name: Rey Skywalker. The Skywalker line will live on through her.
