Seller: carmel-by-the-sea (134) 100%, Location: Carmel by the Sea, California, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 171989054288 c. 800-500 B.C. - Terracotta/Clay head of a woman or man Condition: In tact, good condition. Approx dimensions: 5.5” H with base. 3.25" H head. Admittedly, this is an artifact I know little about. The museum had it listed as a Greek Woman from around 5th century B.C. The material is some sort of terracotta or clay but it's different as it has black specks that seem harder than the red clay. The head is hollowed. There is material in it to allow the head to be mounted on the metal rod. The wood base was custom made for this piece. It is not fully secured to the stand. It can be removed. This was acquired in Israel in the 60s/70s. It was previously on display at a museum in Israel. It was legally imported and has been part of a private Silicon Valley collection since. I'm selling many of my antiquities, antiques, and collectibles. This is similar to examples on display in major museums around the world, to include the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. Of note, the item is displayed at the museum - not just sitting in some archive.
