Condition: In tact, good condition. Very good condition - as pictured. Approx dimensions: 5” diam, 1.25” H This ancient artifact was masterfully crafted almost 3000 years ago. It likely held olive oil or similar. Earlier lamps used multiple burners because of the weakness of the oil. Later lamps were smaller and had designs (2nd century BC - 1000 AD). This was one of the transition lamps. They're more common than the earlier examples, but rarer than the oil lamps after Jesus. They're still very rare in general which is why they're prominently displayed at many museums. It's a great piece - especially for the price! What a conversation piece! Char marks remain from the ancient flames it once held. These lamps were the primary source of lighting in the ancient world. This was acquired in Israel in the 60s/70s. It was previously on display at a museum in Israel. It was legally imported and has been part of a private Silicon Valley collection since. I'm selling many of my antiquities, antiques, and collectibles. This is similar to examples on display in major museums around the world, to include the Metropolitan Museum in New York City: http://www.metmuseum.org/collection/the-collection-online/search/323171
