In 1890 Herbert Joseph Colclough, ex-mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, founded Colclough China Company.  After great expansion by Colclough Ltd. in the 1930’s they started to produce the tea and dinnerware that we know today. They were the first to produce fine bone china for the every day market.  This was sold by the piece eliminating the need for large sets to be purchased enabling many more to afford the fine china.  According to Geoffrey Godden in Encyclopaedia of British and Porcelain Marks, the mark on this trio is his mark #992 which was used 1945-1948.

This superb quality china has color that is bright and vivid. The central theme of each piece is a colorful English cottage scene.  This is displayed on an blank of ivory fine bone china with extensive use of gold.

While this trio is classified as used, we can find no utensil wear or rubbing.  There are no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines or repairs to any of the three pieces.  There is no wear to the gold on any piece.

The stand was used as a photo prop and is not included in this listing.

The cup which has a diameter of 3 1/8" and a height of 2 3/4" is beautiful.  The saucer has a diameter of 5 5/8" and stands 1" high.  The plate is a 6 7/8" square with scalloped edges and stands 13/16" high.
