This is a beautiful hand embroidered Huipil from the Mazatec region of Huautla de Jimenez, Oaxaca. This is the same community that Maria Sabina (Mexico's most famous "curandera" / Shaman) came from.
This medium weight cotton / Manta all hand embroidered in Blue, Green and Orange on Cream.
It measures 25 inches wide (from side to side –total 50 inches around) and 45 inches long.
The embroidery on the front and back of this dress are identical (see photos).
T his huipil will fit a Medium to Large size woman.
These dresses can be worn loose or belted, over bathing suits or with jeans, leggings or long skirts (as pictured here).
