The disc is a beautiful open work, with a large circle in the middle surrounded by three smaller circles and three bars, incised lines along perimeter. Nice patina. Custom display stand is included. The polycandelon, also known as a polyeleos lamp were widely used as light fixtures in Byzantine churches. For illumination, the circles of the disc would have been filled with candles or ovoid shaped glass oil lamps.
