Seller: bradleyo21 (527) 100%, Location: Kitchener, Ontario, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 282166056471 Up for offers is a very fine Colima Flute Player from Western Mexico. It has excellent size at 12 1/2 inches tall, and is much more detailed than any flute player I've seen. He has a flute in one hand and rattle in the other. Please note the deeply incised costume, large leg rings, and beautiful helmet. This exceptional piece is out of the well renowned Earl Riddick collection. It was acquired during the early 1960's, largely from Dr. David Warner. Over the next few decades, Dr Frederick Dockstader appraised the collection several times, including this piece (at least twice). Dockstader is a very well known author and authority on Native and Pre Columbian cultures, and was the Director of the Museum of American Indian (Heye Foundation) in New York City from 1960-1975. Please feel free to make an offer on this rare Colima masterpiece.
