Thirty-Two Adobe Houses of Old California reproduced from Watercolor Paintings of Eva Scott Fenyes. Descriptive Text by Isabel Lopez de Fages. A special publication of the Southwest Museum, Los Angeles, CA, 1950. Softcover. Signature of the author and a message along with her signature is written on the title page.

This book is a tribute to California’s romantic past with 32 plates depicting some of the most beautiful Adobe Houses of Old California. Each plate is accompanied by a short descriptive sketch by Isabel Lopez de Fages, giving something of its history and that of its former owners.

This book includes a pamphlet that lists the Eva Scott Fényes Collection of paintings housed in the Southwest Museum located in Los Angeles.

The previous owner of the book stapled an article written by Isabel Lopez de Fages about La Casa Alvarado which she purchased with the intention to restore and preserve it. The article was published in the Historical Society of Southern California Quarterly Vol. 43, No. 2 in June, 1961.

The previous owner of the book also glued a picture of Alphonse and Isabel Fages dated January 1973 and a reproduction of a photograph taken at the house years earlier.

Adobe construction was introduced to California by the Spanish in 1769. Spanish presidios, pueblos and missions were made up almost exclusively of adobe construction. These building methods were also used during the later Mexican and Early American Periods of California. Adobe buildings are some of the oldest buildings in California. They serve as important links to California's past as a colony of Spain, a province of Mexico, and during early statehood.
