During WWI Von Seeckt was Chief of Staff to General van Mackensen and was a large influence on the strategies that guided Germany to successes in the east during the war. After the war he was chief of the Reichswehr for two years before taking command of the entire German army, which he reorganized and retrained in such a way that upon his retirement in 1926 the army was well on its way to the solid footing and military training necessary for its initiation of WWII. Fine.
