Depicting a standing woman in chitin with an object, perhaps a torch on her let are with hand clutching the waist. The right arm holds up the end of the garment which covers only half the upper body. The garment draped in naturalistic folds. The chitin was wrapped around the body and secured at the shoulder. In this instance, unsecured and evidently in the process of being dropped to reveal the naked body, suggesting that the figure may be Aphrodite. Surface with wear from burial and light encrustation. Height, 7 1/4". Figures such as these were used as sacrifices and as funerary objects. They also were used in home shrines. This example is of significant size for these.
