Seller: thisisit338 (953) 100%, Location: Erie, Colorado, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 142184470461 This pot comes from my personal collection. I purchased a box of old pottery at a flea market in about 1975 and this was one of them. I have spent many hours trying to identify this pot. What I have deduced is: It is historic pueblo pottery, early form, wood fired, coil built. They are constructed using the paddle and anvil method. Redware differs from Plainware in that it has an iron oxide slip applied to it that fired to a red. The Hohokam people settled the Phoenix area about 2000 years ago. Among the relics buried in the ruins of Hohokam habitations are the pot shards of broken clay bowls and jars, the vestiges of household culinary and storage inventories. Pottery containers were the essential possessions for each family's daily life. I have not taken this pot to a museum or any kind of curator to further identify it. Please scrutinize the photos closely to form your own opinion. Again, I owned an Indian art gallery for 23 years but I am not an expert on historic pottery. I try my very best to represent my items as accurately as possible but occasionally I might miss a measurement or blemish. Please read the whole description and look at pictures carefully as they are considered part of the description. I will point out any damage that I see. The final interpretation of condition and measurements are the buyer’s responsibility. If an item is improperly described it is not intentional. I are aware that mistakes do happen and I want you to be happy as your satisfaction and shopping experience is important to me. I will refund any misrepresented item. By purchasing the item, you are confirming you have read all of the terms listed above and understand them. Thank you. I have priced this similar to other offerings on eBay.
