It was being mined in Afghanistan, Badakhshan province( besides Hindu Kush), Sar-e-Sang mine, as early as the 7th millennium BCE. Sar-e-Sang mine was mentioned also by Marco Polo in its "Milione". This bead has a wonderful patina, and presents signs of wearing and weathering. These beads were imported to China during the Tang Dynasty from 618BCE to 907CE. Size: 13mm. x 6mm. x 7mm.
