Maxwell BCAP3000 BOOSTCAP 3000 farad 2.7V ultracapacitors. These are the next generation of energy storage, and will eventually replace batteries in many applications. They are very similar to normal capacitors, except they have enormously more energy storage capacity. They have the following advantages over batteries:
Can be charged and discharged far more rapidly than batteries (almost instantaneously in most applications)
Not affected by temperature extremes
Virtually unlimited life (over one million charge/discharge cycles)
No complex charge controller necessary, just be sure the voltage never exceeds the unit's rated voltage of 2.7V
