DIMENSIONS:  Lock body measures 1.18" tall (2.92" tall with locked shackle), by 1.2" wide by 0.518" thick.  The shackle measures 0.218" thick.  This would be considered a medium-size padlock. An article on Page A13 of the Thursday, February 6, 1975 edition of The Desert Sun newspaper (Palm Springs, California) reported "...a Japanese company with a foot-long name claims to have the answer [to] an “unpickable” lock. Toyo Tessen Kogyo Goshi Kaisha claims its product, 'Maglok', will completely change the general concept of locks and keys.”  This newspaper story addresses the technology as being incorporated into door locks where the key was a magnetic disk. The article continues "I don’t think a burglar would even know what the lock was or how it works just by looking at it, 'a salesman for the local distributor commented.' The lock, according to the distributor, uses a magnetic principle..."
