The Mayans migrated to the area called Yucatan around 2500 B.C. and made many wonders from stone and clay that are being found to this day. The area was officially named Yucatan in 1517 by Cordova of Spain due to not being able to understand what the Mayans were telling him. In 1562 the Spaniards destroyed most of the Mayan's books and statues in hopes of ruining their culture and colonizing them so the pieces found today are very valued, and much more so if in a whole piece.
