This is a stunning Meissen cake or charger plate featuring a dark cobalt blue that is highlighted with delicate scrolling gold work. It is decorated with an assortment of colourful hand painted flowers, including marigolds, Mumms, Asters and Wisteria. in the central bouquet. The irregular edge accentuates the three medallions and the centre where the flowers are painted. The pieces are hand painted on porcelain with opulent 23 karat gold on the high relief of the ornaments and borders. The “B-Form” shape was created between 1844 and 1855 by Ernst August Leuteritz, B-Form being a reference to the original mould shape. Strewn Flowers is a beloved decorative motif of Meissen porcelain, originating in the Biedermeier era. The natural beauty of the flowers and blossoms depicted were from Germany; an artistic choice to move away from emulating Asian designs. The porcelain painters had three dozen blossoms to select from and they created different combinations of flowers on each piece. Excellent condition – No chips, cracks or repairs.
