Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939. The gloss blue is a beautiful glaze which is seldom seen. This is a nice mantle or cabinet vase. Beautiful shape that will please any collector. This is impressed on the bottom with I-3 which is the decorator mark. In my opinion, this would make a wonderful addition to any Muncie Pottery collection or any pottery collection. Displays well from all sides.
Exceptional vase in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. FREE from crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. This item was inspected with a Mil-spec UVA (365NM) and UVC (254NM) high intensity ultra-violet light and no evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections.
