New 1958-78 Mg Midget / Austin Healey Sprite Front Monroe Tube Shock Kit

(1) 1958-1978 NEW MG MIDGET & AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE FRONT TUBE SHOCK CONVERSION KIT, WITH BRACKETS, HARDWARE AND MONROE SENSA-TRAC SHOCKS.

This is for a front tube shock conversion for the 1958-1978 Austin Healey Sprites & MG Midgets. Using these brackets, hardware and shocks you can replace the dampening of the lever shocks with new style tube shocks. This is a replica of the Wheelwright kit available many years ago and leaves the stock lever shocks in place (dampening is disabled). It only requires drilling one hole on each of the inner fenders. All brackets are CNC plasma cut from 3/16” steel. The upper brackets are powdercoated and the lower stud brackets are painted with Hammerite. You will see that there is not another kit on the market like this today. It is a very simple design and easy to install. The other kit on the market today is several times more expensive than this one.

The modified Monroe shocks have had the upper metal shock boot (dust cover) removed. They also have had the stock mounting sleeves modified and a conversion spacer included. There is some discussion about the mounting style of this kit and the upper mount actually passes through the sheetmetal and mounts to a new bracket using the stock lever shock mounting bolts. It is suggested that you reinforce the lower A-arm as it is possible to crack the factory metal over time. This is a very reliable kit that has been used for many years but I cannot be responsible for any torn sheetmetal or cracked A-arms.

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU BUY THIS KIT YOU WILL NEED TO OPEN AND EXTEND THE SHOCKS AFTER ARRIVAL. THEY ARE SHIPPED COMPRESSED TO REDUCE SHIPPING COST BUT SHOULD NOT BE LEFT COMPRESSED FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.

Note: Actual application or fit may require slight modification or trimming to fit. I cannot guarantee this will fit all years listed above. Auction is for brackets, bolts, shocks, sleeves and instructions only. The Monroe shocks have been modified and will show signs up close of where the dust cover and mounting sleeve were removed. This shock was designed to be used with a dust cover so keep in mind that by removing it, there is a slight possibility of shortened life since the shaft will be exposed to the elements now. I have not heard of any problems but I want to disclose all known information. If you have any problems long term please let me know and I will try to solve your issue. Shocks must be mounted rod end up. THIS KIT IS INTENDED FOR STOCK HEIGHT VEHICLES, IF YOUR CAR IS LOWERED THESE SHOCKS MAY NOT WORK.
