Mechanical Pencil Operations For 0.7mm lead, unscrew upper barrel from lower barrel to separate, remove the plastic cap and slide new lead into the plastic reservoir. To write, twist the top cap clockwise to advance lead. For 0.5 mm lead, to erase pull top to expose the eraser. To replace lead, remove eraser and slide new lead into the plastic reservoir. Reassemble pencil. To write, press top to advance lead. Ballpoint Pen Operations Pierre Cardin pens are constructed with brass parts and a balanced, weighted twist mechanism. Simply twist the top cap clockwise to advance the ballpoint cartridge. To retract the point, twist the cap in the opposite direction.  Ballpoint Pen Refills Simply pull cap from pen barrel. Remove empty refill by turning counterclockwise. Replace by inserting refill and turning clockwise to tighten.  Refills are compatible with Cross cartridges.
