Decorated with incised and painted geometric motif. The dish would probably have served a votive function in antiquity - being gifted to a god in exchange for a favour. An extremely rare type. Made from the sand of the desert but possessing the allure of gold, faience was considered by the ancients to be a material imbued with strong magic. It is little wonder then that the ancients chose to create their most treasured possessions in this beautiful, enchanted substance. Diameter: 4 5/8 inches. Condition: Excellent condition. A few small segments reattached around the edges.
