"Today, it is not uncommon for even serious students of the conflict to be unaware that the coins were even produced by the Confederacy."Confederate States of America CSA Restrike Coins are in 1 cent, half dollar, $5 and $20 Coins which were planned by the confederacy but never produced for circulation The "commemoratives have been privately struck, representing denominations which were actually produced during the war and are sold as a set sealed in plastic from a US Museum in Virginia. These inexpensive commemoratives were produced in a manner to prevent their being confused with the extremely expensive authentic pieces."
The coins are definitely metal-alloy and and look and feel real. The penny is copper in color, half dollar is silver-nickle in color, and five & twenty dollar pieces are gold-brass in color. These are not cheap imitations but are nicely made commemoratives. The coins are in new condition as recent restrikes.
