MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! i have implemented an improvement to ensure reliability. It has come to my attention that the regulators did not have short protection and it might be possible to damage them inadvertantly when hot swapping. My advise is simply avoid plugging/unplugging the DC while the ac is plugged in, but I decided to address this concern and find a remedy. After examining possible circuits I have chosen to add fuses to protect the electronics from external shorts, as well as internal component failures. I have installed two fuse holders and 500ma fuses which should provide safety without blowing prematurely. The Rockman devices are rated 200ma so should not blow unless there is somethihg wrong. If needed you can up the value,1 amp max! I have been toying with my old Scholz Rockman (Soloist). I never had an adapter for it, turns out they are not available, kinda special. Someone had a used one for $160.00, on Ebay so... challenge accepted. I decided to cobble together the bipolar, regulated supply called for. With help from our Asian friends I mounted and wired a couple 12vdc supplies and added regulators trimmed to 6vdc as required. It works great, problem solved! I have sold the spare I built so I decided to build some more. Other than the color of the box this is the same unit with small improvements. To make it more robust I used some hot melt to keep things from loosening unexpectedly, and I added nylon insulating washers to ensure nothing can inadvertently be shorted. This supply also works on the x100 and any other SRD unit that calls for +6.4v - 6.00v using the 3.5mm stereo jacks. I have priced this supply at $99 with free shipping, and I considered accepting offers but after shipping cost and Ebay fees and calculating the cost of parts it makes no sense to make them if they aren’t worth $100. Rough math suggests I may be making $5.00 an hour for the build, so it’s not a profit center, more a labor of love. If I can save a few Rockmen from inevitable battery corrosion damage, I will have done a good deed. Unlike the original wall wart supply this unit is modular and it would not be hard to replace components should any ever fail. I test each unit with my Soloist, the first batch got tested on an X100 as well, works for both. The 12v supplies are 1A and the popular regulator chip is rated around that, the Rockman is rated 200MA, plenty to spare. In response to a buyer i have tested and determined this supply will work at any AC voltage from 110v to 240v. switching supplies produce the regulated voltage regardless of the input AC, within stated limits. you only need to adapt the connection. Requires 3.5mm stereo TRS cord, not included
