Seller: thejaguru (3,276) 100%, Location: Sebring, Florida, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 311609710281 Back in the 1980's, in Ft. Lauderdale, I owned a Jaguar shop, and had many customers from South America, who visited me, and were grateful for my rare parts. One, knowing my love for antiques, gave me these as present. I am now concentrating on family heirlooms, and New England antiques; so decided to sell them to someone who appreciates their heritage.. Unfortunately, I do not know if these are Spanish or Portuguese. Also, if you take a cruise to the Bahamas; CoCo Cay, owned by a Cruise line used to be called Little Stirrup Cay; the Disney island used to be called Great Stirrup Cay; probably because they originally were shaped like this; before they were modified to greet thousands of tourists a week.... My friend told me thse were stirrups used by the conquistadores. They both have a strong shaft, riveted across the top, that would attach to a strap. The brass-like alloy, First photos is larger. It is about 8.5 inches back bottom to toe, 4.5 inches top to toe, 3.5 inch width. The copper one(second photos) is smaller; as if used by a woman or child, or someone with smaller feet. (Bottom to toe about 8 inches, top to toe about 4.5 inches, width about 3 inches. Unlike American Stirrups, these are designed so a pointed boot, or perhaps bare feet could fit in them. They have dents, but actually could be used; or are ideal patterns to make a reproduction. I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me date, and better identify them... These are my only South American Colonial antiques. I have other marine and 19th century antiques. You may contact me at 1 954 JAGUARS, or C. 1 954 JAGPART . I ship Priority Mail in the US, or Priority mail out of the US.. NOTE, Some countries now require Express mail to insure. To those countries I have to ship express mail...I am now located in Sebring, the Heart of Old Florida. Thank you, James Dean Condition: Original hand made stirrups, one copper, one brass type alloy, from South America. Made for a foot or a pointed boot to slip into, Probably several hundred years old, but any information to better identify and date would be appreciated. The brass one might fit a conquistadore, the copper one is smaller; would fit a woman, child, or smaller foot., Material: Copper or brass alloy, Provenance: Excavated
