Seller: randallw6 (925) 100%, Location: Snellville, Georgia, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 232145564845 Here's another vintage, historical antique door hardware set consisting of THREE very fancy and ornate solid cast brass/bronze back plates paired with TWO solid cast brass knobs, a clean steel spindle and 2 spindle set screws. The back plates appear to be Italian design/inspired (no Maker's Marks) with lovely bronze cutouts, raised, bold swirls with leaves and hammer marks. The knobs do not match, BUT the one matching knob is exquisite, actually phenomenal, with oval shape and raised-face casting, beaded perimeter, and rare, unusual tail. And who sees the knob on the other side of the door to compare? Check out the pics on this knob! Other knob is also a beauty, an oval shape, with deep facial casting lines. Both knobs are very heavy. Very pretty, aged patina; all parts cleaned up-- so you don't have to! They are ready to install. I have sold many door sets in my time, but I am not familiar with this door plate design, so I'm not positive of actual age but these surely are vintage. The large back plates measure about 8-1/8" x 1-7/8" across the knob hole. Fancy, beaded rim knob measures about 2.5" x 1.5" and the other one is about 2.75" x 1-5/8". Both knobs carefully cleaned to bring out a wonderful patina/luster and are hefty and solid. Plates already have a wonderful patina. A beautiful hardware set for your doors. I am no expert on these so please ask questions prior to bidding/purchasing. Any comments from other Ebay members with knowledge about this design will be appreciated. Beautiful vintage antique door hardware that will make your door look so special! I love these oldies; and so will you. Please note these are not new or perfect; but are in very good, vintage condition, consistent with age and use. I see no obvious flaws or other damage. Spindle screws may not original. These knobs were originally used with a mortise lock, but you don't need one; a "tube latch" will work just fine on modern doors. You can find tube latches at Ace Hardware or I can provide either tube latch or mortise lock for small additional cost. See notes below. INSTALLATION OPTIONS: On a MODERN door, you would need what's called a "tube latch" with a SQUARE hole in the latch (some newer tube latches on newer door hardware do not have a square hole); to fit the square spindle (the rod that connects the two door knobs). The tube latch inserts into the edge of the door near the knob holes and then the spindle goes thru the square hole and connects the two knobs, which then will turn the latch. If you have an OLDER door, you may have what's called a "mortise" lock, a slim metal "box" that slides in the edge of the door and the spindle connecting the two knobs goes thru the square hole, similar to the tube latch operation noted above. Either way, it's very easy and you'll have a lovely, working door! What kind of door do you have? I'll be happy to walk you thru whatever application you have/need!! I encourage questions; I want you to be happy with your purchase! Condition: Very good vintage condition, Color: vintage brass, Maker: no marks, Material: brass plated steel
