In 1899, when Artus Van Briggle stepped off the train in Colorado Springs he must have felt worlds away from the studios of Paris and the landscapes of Italy where his extraordinary talents had so recently flourished. Here, however, surrounded by the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, the defining moments of his life would occur; the twin destinies of a great artistic triumph and an imminent personal tragedy would unfold, leaving in their wake the dawn of a 100 year artistic legacy - Van Briggle Pottery - an American tradition in art pottery since 1899. Van Briggle produced many items that hearken back to nature and this is no exception.
This particular bowl has a repeating 4 petal flower that surrounds the rim. The mulberry color is the perfect touch to this wonderful bowl. Detail is exceptional and is the perfect piece to complete your collection. This is an older bowl which can be dated by the USA mark on the bottom, which places this between 1922-26.
: Exceptional bowl in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. No Crazing! I cannot detect any repairs or modifications to this bowl. Displays well from all angles. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops.
: Authentic Van Briggle USA.
: All pictures are original and un-retouched.
: Dimensions are below.
: H: 2 3/4", Base: 3" , Rim: 4 3/4" ID1799a
