Vintage RARE 1940's Electro Voice V-2 "Velocity" Ribbon microphone w stand V3 V1

 You are looking at a beautiful and highly collectible early 1940's era Electro Voice V-2 "Velocity" Ribbon microphone that comes with a short cable shown and a period desk stand. A larger ribbon mic made by E.V and certainly one of the most unique. This would make a great addition to any vintage mic collection. An excellent prop or display piece.

  It should be noted that this V-2 has been tested and no longer works though the mic is 100% complete inside and out. It still has it's original ribbon and other internal components. This will make an ideal candidate for a professional rebuild due to it's unusually nice physical state. I would recommend a company called ENAK based out of New Jersey as their work is quite reasonable and well done. About $450.00 would have this sounding studio ready.

 You'll see in pic # 2 the difference between the earlier V-2 model and the the later V-2 model. I believe the early V-2 series mic came out around 1940. My 1945 E.V catalog shows the later V-2 design so the first v-2 was a very short production run and only lasted about 3 or 4 years until the 2nd generation came around. I have always preferred the earlier V-2 as it has a much more elegant look. This is the first early V-2 I have had to offer in almost 4 years.

 They rarely come around and never as nice as this example.

  You'll find that the V-2 models had the large ribbon elements which sagged with age and sounded horrible after a couple decades. You can always go with the original size or modify it to accept a smaller ribbon but I'll let you decide what to do with this mic. D ue to the superb physical appearance of this mic it would be an ideal investment if you do decide to get this one working again.

 The V-2 / V3 series is about 3 times larger than the much smaller V-1 produced by Electro Voice during the same time period. This V-1 measures 6 1/2 inches tall X 2 1/2 inches wide while the V-2 & V-3 is 8 inches tall X 4 inches wide. The stock painted metal body shows very lite wear as seen in the pictures provided and has been thoroughly cleaned. There are no dents, fractures or engravings on the mic. The E.V label looks pretty damn nice too. The V-2 sits on it's original yoke / swivel and it works nicely allowing just the right amount of tension and desired angle. No pitting on the chrome tightening / thumb screws. Both front and rear chrome screens have zero dents or tarnish. 

 You'll see the element still has it's original silk cover too if you take the front screen off.

 Cosmetically it's a very conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. Absolutely the nicest I have ever offered.

 There is a short 8 inch cable included that has the unique female 1/4 inch end connector that you'll need to operate this mic once refurbished. The short cable included is soft, pliable and in great condition. 

 MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...

 The stand is a period 1940's era model that is either an Emco or Masco make. It's a classic deco two tier "waterfall design that really compliment the V-2 and looks like the two belong to each other. It's got a heavy cast iron base with original black paint and a short chrome riser.

 The stand is even nicer than the mic but not by much. It has the 3 original felt pads on the bottom that are a bit worn but still work. The stand is free of any corrosion or heavy wear. Very nice piece.

 With the stand and mic the dimensions are appx 14 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide.

 If you need a gem of a early V-2 this will not disappoint. These early V-2's are at the very least twice the value of the later generation V-2 due to their rarity and demand.

 As with all my other vintage microphones...
