Seller: industrial-antiquities (804) 100%, Location: Urbandale, Iowa, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 191969285015 Perhaps the most elegantly shaped light shade that Benjamin or any other industrial-lighting manufacturer has ever made, the venerable "Flat Cone" fixture is a classic of American industrial lighting. And these are the full-sized 18-inchers (diameter measured at the rim). These are the real McCoy--vintage light fixtures made by Benjamin from the 1910s through the 50s (we estimate these are from the late 40s to early 50s). They retain their original Benjamin sockets in outstanding condition. These fixtures served their time in a factory setting, and all of them show one or more of the following signs of that service: paint specs, welding spatter, a chip or two, or staining on the green side. Some have unblemished white bottoms; some have staining on that side. We can't put all of the 15 available light fixtures in one photo, but have shown 5 typical ones, photographed from all angles, and enlargeable, so you have a good idea of their condition. In the photos we included different bulbs, some with common extenders, to give you an idea of the lighting possibilities. This listing is for one light -- you save on combined shipping when buying more than one. In addition to cleaning these fixtures thoroughly, we replaced the original asbestos gaskets with new, safe, and effective cork/nitrile rubber gaskets. IF YOU NEED MORE THAN QUANTITY AVAILABLE, CONTACT US -- we have an additional 7 that are just slightly rougher than ones listed here. Let's take a closer look at this fixture's major components: SHADE: 18" diameter, flat-cone shape, green porcelain on the top side, white porcelain on the bottom side. Thoroughly cleaned-- there are some cosmetic defects (described above) from years of use in an industrial setting.SOCKET: Original Benjamin porcelain socket with 3' of new wire. These are among our favorite Benjamin sockets, with a glazed porcelain "cap" that threads on and off the threaded bulb holder for easy rewiring. The socket accepts regular household size (medium base) bulbs (LED, CFL, or incandescent). DOWN ROD: A 6"-long galvanized iron pipe with 1/2" threads on both ends. Should you require a different length, similar pipe is available at any hardware store in any length in galvanized or black finish. CEILING HANGER: We include a new, galvanized hanger that swivels so the fixture will hang plumb on ceilings sloped up to 20 degrees. It also provides some "give" should the fixture be accidentally bumped. SPECS: The fixture itself (without pipe and ceiling hanger) is 8" tall. With the supplied 6" pipe and ceiling hanger it measures 15" tall. Its diameter at its rim measures 18" round. These fixtures have been completely disassembled, cleaned, expertly refurbished to ensure you a lamp that will work perfectly for another 60 years! These fixtures are completely original except for the new down pipe and ceiling hanger. Each socket includes 3' of new wiring, enabling you to readily lengthen the down pipe without rewiring the fixture. The fixtures will be slightly disassembled for safe and economical shipping -- an easy reassembly on your end. At Industrial Antiquities we guarantee your complete satisfaction because each light is:*Completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Before you buy any light, make sure it has been disassembled, cleaned, and refurbished. We've taken apart thousands of them, and believe us, when you buy them "as is" you will find many of them nearly impossible to take apart, with unsafe and inoperable parts.*Refurbished to the highest standards. Each light-fixture component, down to the tiniest fastener, is inspected and then thoroughly refurbished. Threaded parts are "chased" and lubricated as necessary to ensure everything fits snugly and precisely as it should, and that the fixture can be easily disassembled if necessary. We try to keep fixtures as original as possible, but we don't hesitate to replace parts when necessary, always using components of equal or better quality than the originals. Though these old lights were generally built to a level of quality unmatched in today's world of imported light fixtures, but we'll occasionally run across rusty steel screws and other fasteners that are better replaced with stainless steel or brass fasteners. If we replace any major components we always mention that in the description. Metal housings are treated in a way to restore their former glory while preserving their vintage look, then treated with a corrosion inhibitor. Gaskets are replaced as necessary with fresh new ones. Every fixture is different and requires a customized course of treatment, but rest assured that the fixture you are buying has been professionally restored in every way to ensure many more years of enjoyment and safe operation.*Guaranteed to work. We typically rewire each fixture with copper wire of a gauge sized appropriately for any type of light bulb intended for the fixture, including incandescent, CFL, and LED. We include extra-long wires so that you have flexibility in mounting the fixture using a longer pipe than we supply. Iron pipes are readily available and inexpensive to purchase, but expensive to ship due to weight, so we just think it makes sense for you to purchase those on your end rather than supply longer lengths with each light. And, of course, we test each fixture to make sure it's in perfect working order.*Accurately photographed and described. Check our outstanding feedback and know that these lights are clearly photographed, from all angles, in sharp detail, so you can see exactly what you're buying. Our descriptions are honest, accurate, and detailed. If you require any more photos or information, don't hesitate to contact us and we'll get back to you quickly.*Ready to hang. With each fixture we include an iron pipe and swiveling hanger for attachment to a ceiling junction box. The swiveling hanger ensures the fixture hangs plumb (even on less-than-level ceilings), and provides "give" should the fixture be accidentally bumped.*Carefully packaged. We generously pad our light fixtures in accordance with the standards established by our major shippers (FedEx, UPS, and USPS), and use sturdy boxes, often double boxing if necessary. Though these lights have prices assigned to them, in many ways we consider them "priceless" because of their rarity, beauty, and the fact that you simply cannot buy a modern-day replacement -- and we keep that front of mind in thoughtfully packing every fixture. We typically ship within 24 hours of payment. Most light fixtures are slightly disassembled for safe and economical shipping -- an easy reassembly on your end.*Guaranteed to please. We can't remember the last time a customer was unhappy, but if you don't like your fixture for any reason, simply return it for a full refund. Quoted shipping is to the lower 48 states.
