Description Body: This is a ceiling fan made by the Dayton Fan and Motor Co, of Dayton, Ohio USA. The patent date on this motor is December 1893, thought this specific model was not produced until about 1897-1898. This early direct current fan is a wound for 220V DC. The ornate bottom plate of the motor is heavy cast brass, covered in what appears to be a nickel-plate finish. The ornamental sideband on the motor is thin, delicate cast brass, also nickel-plated, in an attractive scrolled pattern. It appears the sideband may be missing pieces. The fan is missing the blades and brackets. As this fan is almost 120 years old, its operating condition is unknown, and we recommend a full electrical diagnostic before attempting to put power to the motor. It is being sold, as-is, no warranty.
