Serigraph/screen print by well known Guatemalan/Mexican modernist artist Carlos Merida. In the 1940’s he made several series documenting the costumes of the various areas of Mexican peoples. This one, “Trajes Regionales Mexicanos" is said to have been done in 1945, in editions of 1,000, The print listed is marked #4, and signed “Tzoltziles (Chamulas), Estado de Chiapas”. It is signed in block letters, “Carlos Merida" in the lower right. Print is in excellent, clean condition, but the double mat is separated from the backing.
