Initially delivered to a GM dealership in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada and then sold and shipped to a customer (dealer) in the U.S.)   This was common  practice with the 1970 GTO's.. .   especially the convertibles due to the incredible high demand for this car in the U.S.   The Pontiac GTO that were sold in the U.S. and Canada  were  identical in 1970.

Personally, the 1970 GTO is my all time favorite year and vehicle, and in my opinion the best color for any GM car made in 1970 was the Carousel Red which is now on this car. As you can see from the sticker, It originally was Sierra Yellow.   This car has just been painted with very expensive DuPont single stage paint and then shot with 3 coats of Clear, and is like glass, as t he entire car was hand worked and air-boarded & sanded to remove any dings, dents or imperfections and no bondo was used in the process...only metal.  in the past two months I had the entire car wet sanded and the paint looks amazing!   It is impossible to see any signs that this car was any other color other than it's spectacular Carousel Red.   Originally Pontiac wanted to make the color "Carousel Red" exclusive to the GTO Model "The Judge"...and in my opinion represented the best Pontiac color in 1970.

As good as this car looks...it drives great too! It starts the first time, every time, idles smooth (even in the high altitude), and the exhaust has that deep rumple of a 400 cubic inch Pontiac V-8.  The ride is smooth and the tranny shifts as it should.

It does not have it's original radio but does have a great sounding more modern stereo system.

Yes, the factory tachometer works perfectly!

The car is driven only when the weather is great, which in Denver can be most times of the year, but it only gets out about twice per month.  She garners consistent attention, getting pointed at from the side-walkers and as you would expect and she gets "Thumbs Up" and adulation from other drivers.  The steering and suspension on this car are completely fine. The steering is so responsive & tight that I am fairly certain this car must have a new (original type, probably NOS or New Original Stock) steering box. The engine & transmission were rebuilt a few years back, but I had all original Pontiac rockers, lifters and push rods installed to ensure that it is operating as it should last summer.

I purchased the car a couple of years ago and it has been a labor of love and is now time to pass it on to a new owner to be enjoyed for years to come.  While in my care, I have made some additional repairs that made the car operate correctly.  You may wonder why it would need the additional care, but when it is not used everyday, a car of this age has natural challenges... remember no computer in a car of this vintage!  My contributions have included but not limited to;

  • Fuel tank
  • Fuel sending unit
  • Wiper motor
  • Rebuilt original carb
  • Replaced lifters, rockers, pushrods, etc.
  • New rear spring buffers
  • New Master cylinder
  • New Master cyl vacuum unit
  • New brakes all around
  • All new fluids
  • New headlight bezels
  • New interior door and window handles (not shown in the pictures)
  • New center caps on all wheels (not shown in pictures)
  • New rear springs/rubber baffles up to the body
  • Beige convertible boot
  • Spare wheel and jack (no spare tire)
  • New front parking light plastic and chrome bezels
  • Replaced rear tail light assembly's due to originals being warn and cracked

I'm sure there are other things I've done, but this what I can recall off the top of my head!

This is a rare opportunity to buy and own a documented real factory built GTO Convertible at well below the market price. If you're interested and have questions, please submit them to me and I will respond quickly.

I was able to see the Y/S stamped on the front of the block which indicates a 400 cubic inch V-8 with Automatic transmission, but this is not the original engine.

According to Pontiac Historical Services, a total of just 2,173 Pontiac GTO Convertibles were built in 1970 with this engine and transmission combination, which also includes the Judge Convertibles as well. It is estimated that 40% have survived, thus less than 1000 remain. Of those I believe only approx.10% remain in this condition.

Collector car insurance is dirt cheap...about $250 per year for a quality collectible like this and you can also buy full

coverage if desired.  Please note, t hey usually require a garage and not more than 2500 miles a year put on the car.

With that said, this car SHOULD be garaged!

Your welcome to come in person to inspect this car for yourself...hire anyone you like to come on your behalf...  bring your Experts and magnifying glasses.   The car does  NOT have any major flaws.

I truly believe there is NO such thing as a "PERFECT" old car or even a late model car that has been driven,  I AM NOT making such a claim...but this car is in beautiful condition ESPECIALLY when you consider it is  almost FIFTY YEARS OLD!

If you wish to schedule an appointment to see this car, please contact me using the "Contact Seller" option...  I would appreciate at least a two day notice. The car is kept at my home in Parker, Colorado.  There is a lien on the  car with Woodside Credit and we will orchestrate getting that satisfied when you win the auction.  Payment would be made payable to the bank and then I will settle with them afterward and get the title for you to register in your state.

It is foolish to invest your hard earned dollars in clones and fakes... this is a car that you can still drive & enjoy and will increase in value... not decrease in value... and if you chose to... you could drive it every day.

I have no secrets and I'm proud of my 100% feedback rating.   I'm a car guy that is very easy to speak with,  and love sharing my hobby.

SHIPPING: You can choose your own carrier, or I can suggest the one I last used.  With that said, I would strongly recommend  shipping this GTO in an enclosed carrier.

For financing...try  www.jjbest.com  or  www.woodsidecredit.com , again, the latter is the current lien holder on this classic.

I have made a diligent effort to accurately describe this vehicle but do not expressly or implicitly guarantee the accuracy of the above description.

Bidders and prospective purchasers are urged and cautioned to conduct their own due diligence, including a physical inspection in person or through a qualified third party inspector or appraiser, before contemplating a purchase or making a bid on this vehicle.  In fact, I would welcome and encourage such an inspection, and will make every effort to make the above described vehicle available at a time convenient to the perspective purchaser or their agents.

Required payment of 20% of the purchase price is expected within 72 hours and the balance in full within 7 days thereafter, thus allowing you time for financing if needed.  I will put you directly in touch with Woodside to ensure a smooth transaction.

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING!  (Please note that the car is for sale locally as well and I will end the auction early if the car has a buyer, unless there is bidding activity.)
