1976 Pontiac Ventura

This car was originally purchased on October 31, 1975, at Birchwood Motors in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It was given a rustproofing by Ziebart at the time of purchase and has never had any rust. The original owner drove it very sparingly, until 1993 when she moved overseas and left the car in the care of her daughter and son-in-law. The car was parked in a heated garage, where it remained for most of the next 18 years, largely untouched. It was briefly moved outside of the garage on a few occasions, one of which resulted in some minor hail damage. The car also suffered some minor dings and dents due to objects falling on or against it inside the garage.

In May 2011 we purchased the car from the daughter of the original owner, last insurance tags were 1993, and the odometer showed 27,325 miles. All safety related items were inspected and repaired or replaced at this time to make the car roadworthy and reliable, these included new brake rotors, calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, shoes, steel lines, shock absorbers, exhaust, all heater and radiator hoses, tires, (original B.F. Goodrich tires were still on the car), etc. All fluids were changed, including transmission, differential, brake fluid, engine oil, coolant, and the fuel tank was removed and flushed out, fuel pump, radiator, water pump, thermostat, valve cover gaskets, belts and battery were replaced, plus complete tune up, new plugs, wires, cap and distributor rotor installed. Carburetor was rebuilt at this time due to 18 years of sludge built up as well. The carpet was replaced due to mildew, and the headliner, commonly problematic to this era of GM was also replaced.

The car has travelled approximately 10,000 completely trouble-free miles since that time, receiving a professional base/clear repaint in 2016. The originality of the car has been maintained as best as possible, including the original spare tire, which has never been installed on the car. The interior remains as built in 1975, never restored, except as noted earlier, the front bench seat has had a minor repair done where the seam split. The dash has never been altered or cut, the original AM radio remains as installed, though is non-functional. The only notable alteration from stock is the addition of a dual outlet muffler, which was optional at the time. All glass is factory original, windshield has had stone chip repairs, wheel covers are original deluxe style, and headlamps have been upgraded to halogen for safety.

The original 260 cubic inch Oldsmobile V8, with a two-barrel carburetor, (Rochester Dualjet), mated to the original Turbohydramatic 350 3 speed automatic transmission, remains in perfect running condition. The car is equipped with a 10-bolt open differential featuring 2.56 gears. Options include cloth seat inserts, tinted windshield, AM radio, power steering, power brakes, landau vinyl top, intermittent wipers, and rear defroster.

Original bill of sale is included with the car, along with build sheet and some additional documentation.

Great opportunity to get into the classic car scene, or build a hot rod on a budget, no expensive bodywork or paint needed on this car.

The car was appraised in late 2017 for $14,000.00. USD Asking price is $10,500.00. CAD

Car is located in Southern Alberta Canada, approximately 1 hour north of Montana. Pick up is buyer's responsibility, but I will assist in any way I can.

I reserve the right to end this listing at any time as the car is advertised locally.
