vehicle description
|
|
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this
low mileage 1978 Trans Am in spectacular condition the high
performance W72 engine, F41 Suspension, and highly desirable M21
4-Speed manual transmission. The market on
the 1978 Trans Am's is absolutely red hot right now and this
example is priced to sell. It is verified as a correct and original
W72 with a 4-Speed by the original build sheet that still with the
car and pictured below. Very low mileage and original examples of
the second generation Trans Am's are exceptionally difficult to find and draw a huge premium
in the current market, this is especially true for a 4-Speed example. The low original mileage is verified not only
by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title showing the mileage as "Actual."
This Pontiac looks
outstanding,
runs great, and is and awesome driver. We purchased this Trans Am
Indiana. The car was so nice and the so was the weather so I
personally drove it all the way back to Cincinnati. The trip
was over 200 miles and took over 4 hours with a mix of
country back-roads and highway driving. The car ran great
the entire time, was completely reliable, and a pleasure to
drive. This is an excellent opportunity
to own a classic Trans Am that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an
unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for
more than the purchase price in years to come. Please
peruse all of the photos, video, and other information
below to get a true sense of clean and nice this Trans Am really is.
As a side note, this Trans Am is not a dealer auction vehicle.
We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our
classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone
that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.
We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the
car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each
picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so
you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a
question about the Pontiac, just give us a call.

Exterior
The Black exterior is in excellent condition. As one can see in the
photos, the paint has a stunning gloss, deep shine, and smooth
finish. Both doors open and shut nicely and do not sag. The
wheels look brand new with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The tires are
also virtually brand new
and correctly sized 225/70R15. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally
excluded from the photos. There are few small blemishes around the car
with specific photos below.
As one can seen in the many photos of the underside, this Trans
Am is exceptionally clean underneath. It is totally solid with no rust issues. We have also included specific photos of the spring
perches, lower front and rear quarters, and other areas on the
car most prone to rust to show how nice it looks.
This
Trans Am has a stamping on the radiator core support,
which is pictured below. The core support shows a "9 20
77" stamp, or Septmeber 20, 1977. This stamping would be
correct and original as it precedes the car's build date
of the second week of October, 1977 (10B). As one can
imagine, if this Trans Am had ever sustained even a
minor front end collision this part would have been
repaired or replaced. The original stampings are great
to see in tact .
Window Date Codes
Driver: AG - "A" denotes
September and "G" denotes
1977 meaning the driver's side window was made in
September of 1977.
Passenger: AG - "A" denotes
September and "G" denotes
1977 meaning the passenger's side window was made in
September of 1977.
Rear: AG - "A" denotes
September and "G" denotes 1977
meaning the rear window was made in September of 1977.
Please note that almost
all the glass on this car is date coded and original as
each piece predates the car's body build date of the
second week
of October, 1977 (10B). Original glass is another good
indication of no major accident
history.
Interior
The Carmine Red interior of the Trans Am looks
fantastic. The seats are in excellent condition with no tears,
rips, or split seams. The carpet looks great with no rips or holes. The dash bezel looks
amazing with a beautiful finish. The original door panels
look great with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are
solid and in tact. The package tray
looks fantastic with no warping, fading, or sun damage. All of
the gauges faces are crisp and the lenses are clear. There is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever. Please
note in the video below how both seat belts operate and
retract properly. This is a very common problem on this era
"F-Body" and a small, but very important, detail most buyers
do not think to check. The trunk is very clean and totally
solid. Trans Am
interiors from this era are not known to wear well over time and the excellent
condition of this interior is a huge testament to the
meticulous care this Trans Am has received throughout its life.
Mechanical
This Trans Am
appears to be in great mechanical condition and is ready to be
enjoyed. As stated above I
have driven the car over 230 miles with absolutely no issues at
all. The Pontiac W72 400ci engine starts right
away every time, idles well, and runs great. It is an
exceptional driver that feels nice on the road and at highway
speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating
on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the
gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves.
Please note that it shifts well, runs great, and the car performs quite nice
overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side
or the other. There is no
smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does
not overheat. The factory Hurst shifter is tight and feels
great. The car does not pop out of gear and the clutch feels
good. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed,
and correct as one can see from the photos. The horn
works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights,
wipers, and blower for the heater on all speeds. All of the gauges work
with the obvious exception of the clock. This Trans Am has lots of power
with the W72 engine. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is
to drive this car, especially with the 4-Speed transmission and
F41 suspension.
Overall
Condition
Overall, this 1978 Trans Am is
in excellent condition and is a true bargain at our
asking price. The market on for the second generation
Trans Am is very strong right now, particularly for the
1977 & 1978 model years, and low mileage
original cars are much more desirable. This Trans Am is a great value and will only appreciate
over time. Someone
could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and
sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal
effort.
Thank you for looking and please do not
hesitate to email or call with any questions.
