Picture nails were used when the nail was left displayed above the picture and a long wire held the picture below the nail. The points are hand hammered to a point. The brass tops are permanently on the nail and not removable. The nail driven into the wall AS YOU WOULD A NAIL. It might dent the brass. The brass is very clean on these. The nail part has plaster and light rust on them. The brass has some age spots, small dents, and tarnish just as you would expect for old brass. They came f rom a western Connecticut home dating back to the late 1800's. Ideal for authentic restoration and antique effect. Since they are old and used they will add instant age and history.
