This offering is for an antique 19th redware pottery handled pitcher. The pot has qualities and glaze color indicating it could come from the Missouri River Valley which is where it was found, but the same qualities are also seen in pots from from Europe. The pitcher features a bold ovoid body with a heavy formed mouth and applied handle. There is also a nicely incised line encircling the neck. Lastly there is a wonderful hand painted flower on the front that is under the glaze. I tried using paint stripper on it and it didn't faze it at all. The overall height is 8.5" and the body measures 5.25" in maximum diameter with a 3.5" diameter base. There is a bit of very very minor wear on the lip edge but no chips. Otherwise the condition is excellent with no breaks, cracks or repairs.
