  • The 1948 Great Britain 2 shillings coin, also known as a florin, was a part of the currency used in the United Kingdom before the country's decimalization in 1971. It featured the portrait of King George VI on the obverse, designed by T.H. Paget, and a reverse design depicting a crowned rose with the inscriptions "FID DEF" and the year "1948." The coin was made of copper-Nickel, had a smooth edge, and was about 28.5 millimeters in diameter. It was legal tender in the UK and was widely used for everyday transactions. Following decimalization, the 2 shillings coin was replaced by the decimal currency system, and it is now often collected for its historical and collector's value.
