A wonderful and important set of 24 blue and white so called 3 Tulip tiles. These tiles were very popular in the second quarter of the 17th. century. This period is internationally known as the Golden age of Holland, The age of Rembrandt and Vermeer. The tulips itself were also very famous and even recently a movie was made about the TULIPMANIA. The corner decoration, Wing-li, is directly derived from the Famous Chinese Export porcelain which was imported by the Dutch East india Company, The VOC, This porcelain from the Late Ming dynasty is called Kraak porcelain. ( These large sets, over 20 tiles, are extremely hard to find nowadays.) Also ideal for a fireplace surround or a magnificent display in your kitchen. ( -- Be aware !!! There are many tiles which look more or less the same in decoration / design but are 19th. century or much later.
