The doors are not exactly that size. Please see "Dimensions" below. Elegant , antique interior door salvaged from an old home in Washington, N.J. circa 1900. The door is made of solid Cypress and has 5 raised panels on both sides. The door is stained on both sides. If you're not familiar with cypress, it's considered a soft wood, but it's quite durable and rot-resistant. It is very popular in the South because it could stand up to the high humidity. When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine . Hardware : The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware to outfit it (check out our eBay store). * If you would like the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Uneven Height: The height of the door was unevenly cut by 7/8". The cut was made most likely to compensate for a warped floor or sagging foundation. We could cut the door to an even height/width, cut it narrower and/or shorter, or even build it up to make it bigger--message us for a quote. Condition : Considering the door is well over 100 years old, it is strong , sturdy and in great condition. It only has nicks and scratches, but no gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks". Swing : The hinge mortises span the thickness of the door. As a result, you could install your hinges on either side of the door, allowing you to define its swing. Modification : We could also modify the door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace panels with glass, reverse the swings, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done , and we'll give you a quote.
