Antique sterling Towle Canterbury flatware pattern hallmarked sterling marrow spoon. Purchased many years ago from a Newburyport Mass estate.
This is a very interesting and ultra rare piece of Towle Canterbury flatware , despite my hours of research I have yet to see another. My best guess is this rare piece is a marrow spoon?! If you have knowledge or evidence ie, a Towle catalogue, please message and enlighten me.
The spoon is 6 1/4” inches long. I have never cleaned in any way . It’s marked sterling and also 925/1000. It has the Towle trademark of a large script T enclosing a rampant Lion which was adopted in 1890. The spoon is monogrammed with a tiny old script -see pics. It appears to be in excellent condition- see pics.
If your a collector of Towle, Canterbury pattern or fine, rare antique flatware this is the piece for you. You may never see another.
