You are bidding on a mint in original package – 5 oz. Pure Silver Coin – Big Coin Series: Alex Colville Designs: 10 Cents – Mintage: 2,150 (2017).
EXTREMELY RARE - 2,150 MINTAGE! COMPLETELY SOLD OUT IN DAYS!
Fifty years ago, as a young nation celebrated its centennial anniversary, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a special series of circulation coins that are now regarded as some of the most iconic Canadian coins of all time. The third coin in this continuing Big Coin series faithfully re-creates Alex Colville's concept for the ten-cent coin from the 1967 Canadian Centennial circulation coins—albeit on a much larger scale.
A gorgeous gift for someone who enjoys Alex Colville's 1967 centennial circulation coins!
Special features:
Design:
This coin re-creates the unforgettable 1967 10-cent circulation coin design by Canadian artist Alex Colville, and features the side profile of a mackerel. Detailed engraving captures its likeness, including its large eye and fins. The image is enhanced by the application of selective gold plating over the mackerel and all along the coin's rim. The reverse also features the engraved face value "10 CENTS", the word "CANADA" and the commemorative dates "1867-2017".
Packaging:
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a graphic beauty box.

Thanks for looking at my auctions. Happy bidding.

As a collector, I found the hologram effects to be a bit lacking. I was expecting more from such a pricey coin. Other than that, the overall representation of the howling wolf and the Northern Lights is very eye-catching.

Comments about 1 oz. Fine Silver Hologram Coin - A Story of the Northern Lights: Howling Wolf - Mintage: 8500 (2014) :
The holographic effect is stunning. I was not sure, if I should buy it, but now I am glad I did. Just in time as it turns out. 98% are sold. Got number 3500-something. I cannot understand why some complain about the poor holographic effect. My coin is flamboyant under natural and artificial light. Maybe there is some spread during minting. The value and quality of this coin is (to me) much higher than that of any colored one. I hope that it will not tarnish for a long time, because I fear that the oxidation will destroy the effect. The only con: poor artistic image of the wolf. The front legs seem out of proportion (too thin).

After having read other comments about not being able to see the colors & knowing that it's probably just how it was being held I took a chance and bought this coin.Turns out I was correct. It DOES matter what type of light you use but under my living room light which have a yellow glow I only need to turn the coin a certain way for the colors to show. It's not in-your-face color as some may have liked it to be. It's more subtle but you can see various colors which come alive as you turn the coin. Love the wolf/northern lights theme. Comes in plastic encasement presented in a a nice little hinged box with cert.of authenticity. Possibly will give this as gift to a nephew.

It's so awesome to see the shimmering Aurora Borealis as I turn the coin in the light. Another remarkable product of the Royal Canadian Mint.
