Overview: An exceptional Angkorian style 'Kbach Rachana', a decorative element of Cambodian Architecture ornately rendered as a visual narrative in Khmer Art. In pre-angkorian times the lintel was the focus of decorative attention, with single large garlands or branches of foliage, with or without some figure at the end of its outer scrolls. Some of which cases displayed images of deities alone or in a group. The term Kbach Rachana specifically refers to decorative ornament motifs, and were used in decorating of Cambodian silver crafts, furniture, regalia, murals, pottery, ceramics, stone carvings, and etc. This wooden artifact is an outstanding example in which the Kbach art was used throughout Khmer's cultural existence. Description: A complex ornament finial hand-carved of auspicious teakwood, intricately modeled in an exotic motif of intertwining snail-like curls called 'Kbach Hein' and spiriling foliage and pods called 'Kbach Phni Tes'. Typical of Sacred Temple Relics the element was masterfully modeled with exacting detail and aesthetic alignment of the features, with the surface having a naturally age patina of molted color variations.
